The form of Travis Cloke needs to be brought into perspective.

Let's hear all the excuses for his season which is barely better than laughing stock Tarrant at the Dockers, who is hardly a focal point for them.

Oh and by the way, if you think age is an excuse.......

Bear in mind that he is the same age as the guy down the other end wearing number 23 tonight.

He is like a lot of Collingwood players, overhyped by the rose coloured glasses brigade.
 
I'm sure Trav would have better numbers if he had a bloke called Pavlich playing besides him. Cloke simply needs another big forward to share the load. He gets the ball at CHF and who does he kick it to?! Medhurst?! The guys good but he's 179cm FFS!

midfield delivery is always helpful and support around ur position.

put cloke in rougheads spot or franklins and youll find he can do the same.

hows he over rated? no ones asying hes the next j brown, give the kid a break
 
Plateaued a bit. He'll come back.
 
Geez, looking at the state of our list and the amount of spuds we have running around and people are starting to take aim at one of the few with actual talent.

A young KPP who is developing at a good steady rate who will flourish with age, experience and a bit of support from his team.

As for the #23 down the other end....he's a freak and no-ones putting Trav up on that pedestal.

if you want perspective , dont use stats please

ill admit hes had a lean year as opposed to his 07, but im hardly worried with it, with there being injuries to our other forwards rus reid and rocca. those three would be a lot more helpful to cloke to lessen the load he has to carry as the lone big guy

we have a kid in his debut year playing out of position tryin to help out cloke, doesnt that give you some perspective? hey lets bag him out though cos hes clearly our worst player in the team atm :S

Do you think he has had enough opportunities this year to step up and take more responsibility for our scoreline?

Is Franklin a kid? Is Roughead a Kid? Why is Cloke a kid? He has played 80 games.
 
Cloke is having an average year. He is a very good player though. Not quite elite, but very good.

Cloke gets more contested footy than Tarrant and those stats don't paint a very clear picture, especially for KPPs.

Cloke is not a kid, but is still very young in footy terms. And yes Roughead and Franklin are also very young. However why are we comparing them to him? He is probably still 3rd best KPP behind those 2 under 23. Roughead only leapt out of nowhere this year and Clokey himself would thrive having someone like Franklin to work with let alone the delivery and clearance work of Hodge, Mitchell and co. and to not have to carry the team's forward line at CHF.

I think he showed against Adelaide, a glimpse of something special (as Bruce would say). He marked everything that came near him and kicked superbly. Your midfield gets on top and he gets clean supply, he's amazing. Don't write him off yet. Get a better midfield... or get more consistency into them.
 
He's not having a good a year as last year, but on the other hand our mids aren't doing him any favours at all with some shocking delivery. Needs a permanent big man up forward to help him out. JA could be that man if Dawes isn't coming into the side anytime soon and if Rocca is gone!
 
If he had Hodge and Mitchell instead of O'bree the human turnover and Ben Torpson he would be fighting for AA. Trav still needs to learn to get himself invovled by running to the right places but theres only so much that he can do.


FIX THE DAM MIDFIELD!!! Trade for Kerr, get Cousins, whatever, we won't win a premiership with O'Bree, Johnson and all the other part time midfielders in our side.
 
Cloke cannot hold the forward line together by himself.
We need a bloody gorilla to help him out.
Cloke killed it against Geelong because Rocca was there.
You need 2 big forwards to cause damage.
Hawthorn are dangerous because they have 2 gorillas who are equal. They have Buddy and Roughead.
If you took Roughead out, Buddy would not be as destructive or Vica Versa.
Until we get someone to help Cloke out in forward line, he will be held.
 
It's hard with just one KP forward. You become predictable as that player is the only tall target. Means the opposition numbers gravitate towards him, as they do with Fev, making it hard. Alot easier if the midfield functions well running quick, long, hard and deep creating options themselves but if they're locked down it becomes harder. That's where Rocca is so important. Even if he's having a bad day his reputation demands respect. He therefore (1) takes a man making life so much easier for Cloke and (2) making it more unpredictable for the opposition defenders when going forward.

Considering he has been the the only key forward for the past few weeks in a side with midfielders who are slow and lack sufficient kicking skills, I wouldn't hang too much shit on him.

Well Tarrant has Rocca - Cloke has no one else down there at the moment
 
imagine if we had rusling and rocca in to support cloke, it would be a very different story....plus if you watched last nite's game you couldn't help but feel sorry for cloke, FFS all our midfielders did was kick high and long above his head only for Trav to be triple teamed in the contest

In contrast, roughy and buddy had hodge, mitchell and lewis delivering the ball lace out and they had a paddock to work into.
 
Cloke has had a very average year, i think he needs to take more marks and stay closer to goal, the delivery franklin gets is superb. We can barely deliver a good ball inside 50.
Im not sure if its structure or just how fast you can get it from ur backline to your forward line. We seem to do it very slowly and i don't think thats good especially when Collingwoods disposal isn't the best.
