Varcoe is the worst Geelong player since Brent Grgic and worst AFL player since Adrian Deluca

I've never, ever, seen a player more protected, insipid, soft, gutless, overrated, absolutely immune from criticism, and worst of all, promoted ahead of others and kept in the team for absolutely no output.

I wish I would never have to see him in Geelong colours again. Won't happen though.

It's not a half chance when you are 30 metres out DIRECTLY IN FRONT and are not under pressure. It's actually a pretty regulation goal. For instance the kind that were going through up the other end.

In reality, Varcoe is a quality small forward who gets a lot of the ball, and uses it well. Lays intense defensive pressure too. At the same time, Joel Corey is a great midfield player, and Kelly is a ball magnet. Josh Hunt is also a superb small defender.

All statements are equally true.

I was as pissed as anyone that he missed that relativity easy goal to level it but seeing him in tears after the game being consoled by his team mates just makes you remember how hard this game is.

Oh sweet Jesus this is my issue. People think I hate Varcoe; I don't. I don't hate any of our boys. But **** me sideways he should not have been playing the last 2 months and anyone with an semblance of an idea of what footy should look like would say the same.

Yes, I can't stand those guys either! What have they ever done for this club? Useless, the lot of them. Throw them out so we can see some real players.

No not interested in Varcoe trying or looking upset when he does something stupid or banging his fist into his hand when he stuffs up. Not interested in him dancing around opposition players with the ball or tears if that is true after this game. I want to see him do what he is supposed to do-tackle, run, pass the ball, kick goals. he has done nothing since he came back from injury and is playing on reputation from 2011 GF.
There are many decisions for the Coaching panel to make and Varcoe as a regular player who gets a game every week must be one of them- trade him.

Other players let the side down tonight, not just him. Other players made stupid decisions throughout the game, especially in the last quarter. I'd hope the coaches and match committee also realise they let us down and will have to do a much better job next season.

Everyone looking to blame the result on one player based on one moment.. Hawkins kicked 1 goal (which was an absolute shank) and Pods kicked NONE.. Gave up some 20 odd more inside 50s and close to 100 more uncontested possessions.. Gave up a 3 goal lead in a tough and tight prelim and prior to Varcoes miss we had only scored ONCE for the entire last quarter.. You win as a team and you lose as a team..

Well, we've also had other players perform poorly over the year, as well. A problem we've had is that the MC seem to have their favourites, who will get picked regardless of their form, rather than being given ample time in the VFL to come right. Meanwhile, we had guys in the VFL who were never given a chance in their stead.

Probably both . I actually thought the Hawk moved fairly well tonight and was simply out of form. Didn't have a problem bending over I noticed.

This. I wouldn't be against exploring a trade. When you look over his career he really has not played that much good footy. Yes he was ok in 2011 finals and for a bit of 2010 but really what else has there been? Nothing consistent that's for sure.

That's the worst part. He skates by on this perception he was fantastic in the 2011 GF. You know what? He got on the end of 2 goals because of great work by his teammates (and a lack of defensive ability by Leon (lol) Davis). Then that fantastic goal in the last. I'll never take that away from him; it was fantastic. But take that out he had two gimme goals and absolutely **** all else all game. His efforts in that gf are greatly exaggerated because we won.

Except we aren't. Is more about the three fifths of #### all impact he has had all year (and for much of his career really) and the frustration with him being selected over and over and over again despite being woefully out of form and touch and just staggeringly soft.

I honestly think that is the single biggest problem we've got right now. I can think of at least 3 players off the top of my head - fully fit - who should have been playing seniors a lot more than they were.

Probably true but he did at least have some impact. Outside of his goals he hit a few targets around the ground, gave some run and stuck a tackle or two. Did that for all 3 finals really but was lucky to even get the chance after a such a woeful year.

There needs to be the decisio to move to the next step and place the VFL based players onto the senior side more often and work in with how these guys are going to start going intoretirement or elsewhere Think that the club simply needs to fixted the contested touches and clearance issue and then they will have a good go at it again. This means using guys like Stokes and Johnno back in the HFF more and put young midfielders in there to learn and to expose speed as this is what sometimes is missing .

And yes others stunk tonight. But Corey and Hunt I'm 95% certain will retire. Kelly will have his role changed/reevaluated (perhaps back to defense). Hawkins is injured (plus suffered from usual horrible/hesitant/sloppy/stupid delivery) and Pods will be phased out of the side. Something will change with them at least yet feel we will persevere with Varcoe and his soft, shit completely ineffective performances.
