From Twitter: @ GeelongCats: Not great news for Trav Varcoe with a serious shoulder injury. Chris Scott says could be 3 months if surgery required. #AFLCatsBlues

Hopefully it's not as bad as they think. :(

The poor guy just can't catch a break. Hope it's not 3 months serious but if it is we'll just have to hope he can return as an X-factor later in the season. As someone said upthread, he seems to be on the cusp of turning into a very special player and an integral part of our team so whilst it's sad for him to be injured again, it also hurts the team.

You'd reckon they could just pop it back in and he could keep playing like a lot of guys with shoulder injuries do, but I guess surgery is the smarter option.

This is a pretty big blow, we need him. Hopefully it's not 3 months but I do hope he has surgery to get it right, don't want him rushed back then doing more damage.

Gives another player an opportunity though which is always good, I really want to see menzel back and have a good injury free season, he deserves one.

Agree SC...but Menzel wont be back for weeks. He will get a good run in the VFL...of course if he blows them away he might just come back a little earlier than I think. :thumbsu:

Poor Trav. He was looking so fast and strong!

Gotta sort it out properly now. If it were round 20 it might be different.

Fek it. As long as he is back for the second half of the season. :(

It appeared Trav rode the bump, rolled to deflect some force and ended up landing awkwardly as a result... Double whammy! Really feel for the guy - Last season was bad enough for repetitive and long term injuries, but we just can't seem to catch a break this year - Disappointing! I'm so looking forward to having close to our best 22 on the park, have them gel, and watch the doom-sayers crawl back under their rocks, but that day seems like a distant goal now. Just hoping the news will be better than expected for Rocket Man.

Hearing trav went down badly completely deflated me at the game.

Hes the player you build your whole gameplan around, knowing that when the opposition is tired he can split them open and hit the scoreboard from half back.

What a devestating loss to the club. Can only hope he realises just how important he is to us and puts in the hard work to be 100% fit and in form for finals.

12 weeks would be a disaster. I hope I am not speaking out of school - Geelong locals or people close to the club probably no what i am referring to- when I say all is not well off the field and the boy needs his football.

I just hope he can get back sooner than that.

Speaking from personal experience I can tell you that is extremely unlikely. :(
