I know he won't play again this year - but will he be able to make it back at all?

Have to say that along with N Brown - that was the worst leg injury I have seen.

Wouldn't be surprised (but greatly disappointed) if that was his career!

any crow supporters have an update?

As far as the AFC tell us hes recovering well and the operation went perfectly to plan. He wants to be able to do a pre-season next year so i guess we will find out how well it went then.

he had his reconstruction a few months ago i think (he had to wait for the knee joint to heal before he could go through with the reco)

from the sound of what i read, he is expected to make a full recovery, how that translates on the footy field, only time will tell

All the operations went pretty well, seems to be progressing near enough to plan. Hopefully he can get back and have a really good pre-season next year.

Losing him absolutely killed us last year. Just when he was threatening to burst on to the scene as one of the leagues best forwards.

We all hope that he will make it back, but deep inside our hearts most of us fear that he will never be the same.

Reports from the club indicate that his recovery is going well, at least since he got the knee reconstruction done. The reco was delayed a couple of weeks when the knee took longer than expected to recover from the first round of surgery.

We all know how optimistic club press releases are, so you can read into that what you will.

Yeah - we can but hope!

Good Luck Trent!!!

I miss not being able to call out "Hentchell the Potential!!!"

He was interviewed on 5aa a week or so ago and he said the recovery was going well but that his injured leg was now 12cm skinnier than it was before the injury. He said he was almost up to the stage that he could get on the bike with Charlie Walsh and that he wasn't particularly looking forward to it!

Word from a prominent Adelaide orthopaedic surgeon is that whilst the operations went well there is some doubt whether the knee will withstand the rigours of AFL football.

Hope he gets back- was looking like he could be anything!

We have had this discussion before Apollo and unless that surgeon has actually seen or performed the opertation then it can only be guess work on the part of the surgeon.

And if that doctor did examine Trent Hentschel knee and released information to a 3rd party, he would be breaking all kinds of patient/doctor confidentiality agreements and his ethical code of behaviour.

Considering Trent Hentschel is a high profile patient in Adelaide I doubt this doctor would risk talking about it, even with his own family. The doctor’s reputation is on the line and his identity would be easily found out.

Really depends whom the 3rd party is........if its the media then they have a right to report the on goings of a players injury.

No they don't, not without consent from the patient. Trust me I used to work in a Hospital. The only person that can access your records is you or the hospital in relation to medical reasons. Other areas can request the records but they must have a valid reason and media reporting is not one of them.

Dunno about that. I regularly see an Orthopedic specialist at Sportsmed and he always gives me the goss on AFL players. And, the Crows club doctor is my GP, and even he tells me a few things. Gave me the juicy details on how he stitched up Wayne Careys knee after crashing into the point post.

Sounds like a breach of confidence.

I am glad you enjoy going to a doctor that has no problems breaking an ethical belief and would happily give out your privet patient notes to any Tom, Dick or Harry.

Doctor / patient confidentiality – who would have though it would be such a big deal. :(

Well, I dont think he would tell anyone about me. I'm not an AFL footballer!! My situation is very common, so the topic gets related back to footy and how it is managed.

The information about the AFL players is obviously more valuable than the information on you. He should probably not be sharing it with Joe Bloggs.

i think your doc might be self-aggrandising a little

Hentschell is/was? a good player, but "one of the leagues best forwards." is a bit over the top
