Without wanting to be disrespectful, just about every player out injured is a key player, not a depth player. We have been hammered at our top end this preseason. Makes the failure to make things count last year all themore glaring considering our lack of injuries.
Last year was our first year at the end of the rebuild, and the beginning of our period of competing at the top end. It's unrealistic to think you somehow get a flag your first year back in in the finals.

Bit tough on Oscar Ryan given season 2025 was basically a washout missing a month with a fractured jaw and then his season came to an end in round 14 when he did a serious hamstring injury. When he did play his kicking was supreme going at 94% disposal efficiency. I'll be very surprised if he doesn't get another contract on what I've seen at SANFL level.
He was also a bit of a reach at 27. I'm still hopeful as he has tools, but not every gamble like this pays off.

My point is that you HAVE TO make hay while the sun is shining. We had a dream run with injury last year, finished top at the end of the minor round and collapsed. This year, we will be half a season without 2 of our very key players and others carrying injury and who else might get injured as the season rolls on?..we may not get such a charmed run again with injury like last year for a long time

We are talking about Sholl right?

He is no longer small or slight, he may be a fringe AFL player but he is not small or slight anymore. 185cm 82Kg
Yes Sholl.

Quite possibly the weakest afl player of all time.

Of all time!

And yet he’s sitting in the 2s for a trial game where we’ve named 29 players with injuries

Eh, hardly unrealistic. You are what your profile is, and ours should have at least seen a preliminary final.

Ok, I’m confused. What times are the two games on today? AFC site says the non-AFL selected players will have a three quarter curtain raiser game. Is this televised at all? Or is it just the AFL match starting at 5.30pm that will be on Kayo

Doesn't look like the SANFL practice match will be broadcast.

Definitely looks like a miss. A few players taken shortly after look decent like Logan Morris, Archer Reid and Ashton Moir. Bit later on you have Joel Freijah, Hugo Garcia and Archie Roberts
