It's only tuesday, but I'm willing to tip what I think the trifecta will be in saturday's Doncaster.

1. Lonhro
2. Shogun Lodge
3. Thorn Park

Have a go everyone! See if anyone can pick all 3 and not just fluke the winner ;)

I bet on odds, won't be selecting my bets till probably 5 mins before the race. I have a system where I back horses that are unfashionable but consistent in big pressure races, low odds in the morning call (7-1/8-1) and paying $20-$30 on tote. Love when they have unfashionable jocks on too, always scares the mugs off. Jeez I remember a nag a few years back that I used to only back in the big mile races called AuntyMary, won stacks, thousands, on that thing, always paying 20 or 30, killer horse.

Well Harry, looks like it's the same few on here actually willing to have an opinion before the race.

So,in that vein I'll go

1.Gordo
2.Lonhro
3.Miss Zoe- a roughie always staggers into the money in these big mile races.

I have to agree that I usually bet on odds as well Deej, I don't wager a lot (I'm only 18, so about $15 is my limit on saturdays). I usually don't bet unless there's a chance I can win big: High risk, high reward! But for the big Group 1's I like to have a punt at the trifecta early in the week, or else I end up getting to saturday and have no idea who I want to back!

I remember backing Catalan Opening at $35-1 a few years back in the Doncaster, it was a fashionable horse and consistent too, so I couldn't understand why he was such good odds. The consistency in the big pressure races is probably the reason I like Shogun Lodge as a roughie, also I think his run 2 weeks back was very promising in a race that didn't suit him.

Yeah I agree Seth, Miss Zoe is a very solid and under-rated horse. I tend to back her pretty regularly, however she hasn't been in very good form the past month. I have my doubts about her, but if she looks fresh on saturday I might think about dropping some dollar on her. You'd probably get good odds about Gordo, the most unfashionable horse of the top bunch. I reckon he'll be over the odds at about 10-1 or 11-1.

I believe the year that Catalan Opening won The Doncaster Randwick was a quagmire!!!!!!!

Up until that race, this horse was considered a duffer once the track was rain affected!!!!

Juggler came from last on the turn to almost take it from Catalan Opening!!!!

May I remind you Harry that its fair enough your asking for the Trifecta, but if you back the winner in a full field of 18, it wont be a fluke!!!!!

For what its worth!!!!

Thorn Park
Dash for Cash
Lonhro

I previously said Dash for Cash and will still be backing him..... after seeing Thorn Parks in between races gallop the other day, with Glenny in the jeans also, will be mighty hard to beat!!!!

Chances to Defier (Obviously) Gordo, Scenic Peak if the track is dry as a nuns as well!!!!!!!

Good luck!!!!!

I'm looking for something that will sit near the pace which makes Scenic Peak my bet. Can run great sectionals and will be in it for a long way at good odds.

1. Scenic Peak
2. Defier
3. Lonhro/Miss Zoe/Crawl/Gordo

Well Gordo and Thorn Park are weighted beautifully. Miss Zoe will be charging home at the end along with Purple Groove.

I would take Lonhro - Field - Thorn Park, Gordo, Miss Zoe, Defier, Purple Groove.

If Lonhro is going to lose a race it may be this one as Thorn Park with only 50kg will be charing home as will Gordo.

haha Yeah Davo you are right, it wouldn't be a fluke. But I just thought I'd say that to stir up a bit of an argument!

Thorn Park I liked very much, however the barrier draw didn't help. Horses don't usually win Doncaster's from barrier 17, so I have my doubts. It's a class horse in Sydney and can still not be forgotten though.

i will have a go..........

1. Thorn Park
2. Lonhro
3. Purple Groove

I think i will smash Purple Groove for the place, will be flying home!

Ah looks like Defier was too scared to take on Lohnro due to the rain.......lol lol lol

Lets hope it isnt raining in the Cox Plate this year .......lol lol

Oh F*ck!

This race has taken a massive dive for the worst, it's a very sub-standard Doncaster field now. Defier, Shogun and Excellerator all gaaaaaawn. Go the Little-O!
