I think we'll offer pick 10 to your mob if we get outpointed in the Ottens situation. Getting Jesse W Smith in the third round means we are effectively getting a top 10 pick there, so using pick 10 on a readymade ruckman like Simmonds makes sense as he would slot straight into our first 18 in that position.

No worries than - I'll fax this through to them first thing in the morning!! ;)

While this years draft isnt as deep for standouts it's probably one of the best recently for promising young rucks.

I think it would be unwise for any club to use a top 10 pick to get a 26 y/o ruckman who was 3rd in line for ruck duties at his club.

Keep pick 10 Kangas and Hale and McIntosh will do more than a good job for you in the next 10 years.

Well , they got to give us something for Simmonds. Hes not for free.

Hale and McIntosh look more like forwards at this stage (and Hale's body is still too skinny to ruck fulltime at AFL level), while I don't think we can afford to draft another raw big man and wait three or four years for him to develop. If we want to challenge for the finals in 2005 and get out of this mid-table rut, we need someone who can come in straight away and assume the first ruck position. If there was ever a year to trade our first rounder, it's this year.

T Lo for Bandy. We have some backup , there will be someone in the WAFL we could put on the Rookie list as more.
I like that idea, it would be good to get bandy back.

If Simmonds Leaves we will need another ruckman.

To replace Troy at full forward?

Murphy to full forward, Sandilands and JLo sharing rucking duties and Haddrill at full back. Polak, Pavlich and McPharlin can raffle the CHF and CHB slots.

No to replace Jlo if he does his knee or Sandi if can't fit into one of the buses.

Well, considering all the teams chasing Simmonds will be doing it as they are short in the ruck department, the chances of getting a ruckman back in any trade are slim, unless maybe Jolly? Or you could get Port to throw in Cain Ackland in any Carr deal.

And the gallaries errupted with laughter.

Here's a thought, maybe we should draft a ruckman as insurance. After the trade period, you would think that we'll pick up another 2 midfielders and lose simmo. We've still got Warren on the rookie list, I seem to remember him playing pretty well when put into the ruck against the crows in a trial game. He also did pretty well in the intraclub game at the start of the season. He has had a solid year and come come into the team should J.Lo or Sandilands go down. But I think we should take a ruckman in the draft anyway (probably with our second round pick)

In today's Australian

"On the merry-go-round, Fremantle appear certain to lose off-contract ruckman Troy Simmonds to Richmond and possibly for no compensation in return.

Simmonds' management yesterday informed the Dockers he had agreed not to be traded to another club and would move on a long-term deal to the Tigers, who had first pick in the pre-season draft."

BOOO! I hope this isn't true.

Snake wanted a four year deal?, bit over the norm of three year deals.

No compensation for him?, by going into the PSD. Most players or clubs try to wangle some compensation when leaving, be it a pick or player.

Interested to find out the reasoning.
