Does anyone else like those old art deco houses? I love 'em

I mean look at this thing it's wonderful

If you go to NZ you must go to Napier. The city was destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 so they rebuilt in what they saw as the most modern architectural form at the time which was Art Deco.

Mrs Dore and I were there for the Art Deco Festival in 2024.

I don't know what the name for this kind of glass feature is but I've always called it '80s glass', I guess I can't be the only one as I got the results from googling '80s glass'

The igloo house is pretty cool.

I dunno, most of the weirdness is behind closed doors.

Like a mates place that was totally normal on the outside and full of Indiana Jones murals on the inside.

I also considered buying this place with it's scarface mural thing, but if you look at pictures someone else got it, attempted to renovate it to be boring and plain, and then gave up and put it back on the market.

... although they found slate tiles under the carpet. I also love slate.

I have slate tiles around my inground spa, but they are a pain to maintain

... the more I look at local real estate the more I am convinced there's a large number of people here who aren't aware curtains exist and really do believe bedsheets are the optimal window covers.

No wonder a mate got so pissed off when his curtains were stolen.
