Yeah Tim, I went to the TCA and watched the Tigers v North clash.
Cold and showery day up there with a crowd of only about 650, almost all of it Hobart too.
Couldn't believe how few fans North Hobart had up there to be honest, it was like playing South Launceston or something.
Good game in the first half, both sides were pretty much nip & tuck till the long break.
Hobart left their minds in the sheds at half time and North busted the game wide open booting a string of quick goals down at the cottage end in the first 5-6 minutes.
The showers got a heavier again after that and Hobart were gone.
North simply played good wet weather football, whereas Hobart gave their opponents far too much latitude and tried to play like it was a dry, sunny day.

8 goals 20 behinds? 11 behinds in the last quarter? what's going on there?

as a tasmanian living in canberra, i obviously haven't seen a minute of the footy this year. but is anyone in a position to give me some thoughts on how it's looking? whose looking like contenders? whose looking crap? are my beloeved launnie blues looking ok?

more importantly, hows all the stuff that forced it to fold in the first place looking? crowds? admin? douchebag administrators at afl tas?

The ladder looks sooo familiar when I see my Doggies holding everyone else up...I made a vow that I'd be there to watch South play their first ever TFL final 20 odd years ago, and I'm still waiting...

Good luck with that, as long as it's not at Hobarts expense.

Yeah, I was up there. Left at 4 o'clock, not because of the game but just the conditions.

Hobart are a rabble

I watched them play every single match in 1993, '94, '95, '96, '97, '98.
Now THAT was a rabble! :p
They've got a bit of work to do though, need to do a little bit of recruiting over the summer, work out through this season who is showing continuous improvement and who's good enough to keep on their list longterm.
A couple of experienced heads in that side would do a lot of good.
Thing is, any improvement up there is going to be longterm rather then quick-fix.
In their matches so far they've been annihilated by Glenorchy in Round 1 (92-points), very, very poor performance.
Round 2 they were almost ten goals down away to Launceston and got to within 25-points early in the 4th.
Round 3 they started slowly in poor conditions at Lauderdale but clawed their way back into the match and hit the front, the Dale hit back but Hobart got back in front and held on.
Round 4 they've run a pretty fair Clarence side to halftime before dropping their bundle completely in the second half and losing by 59-points.
And probably should've rolled North on Saturday even though they didn't play the conditions properly, a five minute burst putting an end to that idea.
They can't kick goals which is a real problem, scores of 6.6 (42), 13.6 (84), 9.8 (62), 10.11 (71) and 8.10 (58) shows that.
Next week they're at Devonport under lights, we haven't won up there since 1992.

First post in over a year on this board.:thumbsu:
Here is a link to the ladder after Round 5.

The northwest teams look like the teams to beat. Devonport look the surprise packets.
There's 6 spots up for grabs come finals time but Hobart, Lauderdale and South Launceston look to be making up the numbers this year.
Crowds have been good for this competition, with Good Friday football a success in terms of crowds and support. No real change in admin at this stage though.:(
