IMO Rockliff is of the old school of thinking. Which is cool, nothing wrong with that.

But honestly, I think a new style of thinking is needed for the future. Patfull for Captain!!!!!!

It's not like he publicly called the coach a ****wit like Aker did.

A proportionate, targeted clip by Rocky, I like it. Not enough players publicly batting for the honour of the club in this off-season, so Rocky and Beamer's tweets have been enjoyable.

Rocky did somethiing similar when Clark went to Melbourne for money. Something like "I guess money an solve anything".
He was right then and he's right now. Rocky for Chairman.

I really rate Beamer's one particularly. The guy's been at Geelong and Melbourne and is right in the scene. He's loving it up here and appreciates the chance to keep playing meaningful senior football. He's only been up here one season and he's right behind it.

The twitter love from the players for Blacky at the moment is heartwarming. Even the aforementioned homesick Freo boy had a nice thing to say from his comfy inner Melbourne pad.

I'm not huge on those homesick clowns tweeting about Blacky.
Yeah I think the Mummy's Boob Five should stay out of this one.

You guys are revolting. What, you're going to start on me next because when my parents move down South I will more than likely be following them?

No one is going to start on you whatever you do.So would you be ok if it was an ongoing thing where every player we drafted from interstate left after two years using the excuse of home-sickness ?We need to question their behaviour otherwise we are just kicking cans and a laughing stock imo.

Questioning their behaviour means asking "Why are you going home and what could we do to help make you stay?" not "Oh, you want to go home that means you're a mummys boy and you deserve to be insulted.".

i hope that was a joke because whatsthe point of turning this into something about you moving south? these are fans just disapointed and hurt over players theyve invested emotional energy in and see as a shining light to get us back up the ladder leaving, making us restart our rebuild once again

No need to start making petty remarks about them. Especially when they're showing their respect to the great Simon Black.

Be disappointed, sure. But don't put these boys down for doing what they think they need to.

It might be wrong for people to put them down but I can see where they are coming from, people think they shouldnt be talking about respect for a club champion when through their actions they have clearly shown no respect for him or the club it might be petty but at least people are showing some passion which is what this club needs right now. Furthermore at the end of the day this is an internet forum which none of these players look at so does it really matter how people voice their opinion

I find it highly disrespectful for people to bring the players leaving issue into the "our champion is leaving" issue. There is a difference between passion and pettiness, and just because a player has chosen to leave the Club doesn't mean they're showing Simon Black or the Club disrespect - if it's not working out, it's not working out. I'd find it more disrespectful if they stayed when they didn't want to and poisoned the new culture this team is trying to build.

It matters to me because this issue cuts fairly close for me. My family is very close (even though I live 2 hours away from home, my mother still orders my groceries online once a fortnight, and I still try to help out at home where I can) and I can understand why these players and their families might want them to come home. None of us know the full story, and it really grates the amount of judgement these boys are getting, especially as I am just like a lot of them.

there is no point having this argument im sure we all have different views on this exodus but I dont think its nesscarrily correct to judge how people choose to vice their frustrations and I understand yourpersonal issues with your situation but I really dont think it should be related to this

Why? Doesn't that mean that other people should keep their personal issues with the players leaving out of it as well?

Personally, if this is the way fans behave then I'm not surprised the boys are leaving. If it weren't for the few good fans, Joel Patfull, Dan Merrett, Andrew Raines, Jack Redden and a tattoo I got I'd be seriously tempted to leave too - it's poisonous here.

think you will find anywhere around the world most fans and clubs are very quick to show their contempt at players, adelaide with tippett an example for one supporters are always going to be like that not everyones going to see things the way you want them too, if youre tempted to not support the club (its the only thing I could gather from what you said about leaving) that really is upto you and your decision but again I really just do not see how are why youre involving yourself in this again, im going to end this discussion on my end as I just do not see it progressing through with any rational thought

I just think it's unfair that everyone is allowed to "vent" about the players leaving, but I'm not allowed a right of reply. Check twitter sometime too - people are actually blasting these players because of their decision.

I really just do not see how are why youre involving yourself in this again,

And I don't see why people are abusing players for something that really isn't their business. Players leave all the time.

I'm dropping this until someone else decides to pop up and blast players for no reason.

Get real seriously. You following your parents down south is not even close to being the same as these homesick flogs nominating clubs and just Pissing on our club after we gave them their shot. **** them.

Mmmm...

Thats going to settle things down. :D

For people brought up in a footy culture where being a one club player meant something, it is hard to cop players leaving purely because they would prefer to be in their home town.

When these guys nominated for the draft, they knew the likelihood that their destination club would not be in their home state. This is part of the deal of being a professional Aussie Rules footballer.

I can't feel sorry for them when their actions will probably leave my club in a worse place. And I refuse to assume that there is some pressing personal reason for each of them needing desperately to get home because we have no evidence of that.

And before the response, I am also incredibly angry at the club for allowing a culture or environment to develop where so many players would prefer to be somewhere else.

I don't "feel sorry" for them, I just understand the reasoning why.

The thing is, there is a facility there for them to get home. I don't blame them for using it. Seriously, would you rather earn $200k and a fair flight from close family and friends or $200k close to family and friends? I know which one I'd pick

It sucks, but some of the comments I read here and elsewhere would make you think they murdered half the remaining playing group and slept with the other halfs wifes/girlfriends before leaving. Oh, and probably kicked a puppy too.

Earth to Lions fans: Being "homesick" (if that's what the reason is, personally I have my doubts) is NOT a crime. It's a fact of life.

And like I said on twitter, with fans like these, why wouldn't you rack off?

Get real seriously. You following your parents down south is not even close to being the same as these homesick flogs nominating clubs and just Pissing on our club after we gave them their shot. **** them.

Actually, it's very similar. My employers pulled a LOT of strings to get me to Brisbane. And I'll happily piss on them (and the rest of the taxpayers) to get to where I want to be.

I also pissed on my ex-employers by leaving when I knew there was no way I'd ever get a transfer to Brisbane with them - I was outta there faster than these boys want to get out of Brisbane.

Like I said, there is a facility there for them to get home if they want to. And they are fully entitled to use it.

Truthfully? I would feel an incredible sense of loyalty towards the club, the supporters and my mates.

I would want to see through what I started. I would feel that my sense of "team" was more important than simply being in my hometown.

And I would feel like, until I could prove otherwise, I would always be viewed as someone who may not have the mental fortitude to face something tough in life.

These guys clearly think differently to me though so it is a pretty irrelevant question to ask what I would do.
