Opinion Twilight Footy - Love it, Hate it or Meh?

Two of our next three games are at the MCG in the twilight timeslot of 4.40pm (Sunday vs Suns and a Saturday game vs the Eagles), so I was just wondering what the general opinion is regarding this timeslot.

I don't mind it, I prefer the time to night games anyway, although in the winter months it can get damn cold later in the match, in fact the sun would be behind the Ponsford before the game even began, so it will be like a virtual night match anyway.

We will no doubt have more games at this time in the future, as the AFL tries to fit 8 games into 2 days and nights.

Personally, I think we should have two Friday Night games, but that's probably another topic altogether.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

I voted 'no' because it kind of fills up the evening without filling up the evening, if you know what I mean.

Just thinking specifically of Sundays, I love the timeslot to watch games at home but as far as going to the game, not a fan at all. Getting home after 8pm on a Sunday's not a great thing honestly.

The Saturday one is fine IMO - especially if like me you don't mind going out for a couple of beers with mates after the game - this is almost a perfect time!

When taking the kids, I love that time slot. My middle two have a nap; we all eat an unhealthy dinner at the game and the kids get into bed on time!!! Whereas, a day game, the kids miss their nap and I miss most of the game because I am constantly apologising for their behaviour.

But, I truly love night games, because then we get a babysitter and the night is all mine!!!!

Night games are better to watch on TV with mates - everyone gets around and has a social night based around the big night games. You can create atmosphere at home.
Whereas 4.40 games on Sunday are just weird. I don't really like them.
I don't mind Saturday arvo games. Although we don't get stacks of them. They're good to go to.
I think Saturday night is my preference.

Eight games is a lot to spread out over the weekend as stated above.

I'm Ok with it, whenever the Pies play, you hang out for it.

Can watch the game, get home, watch the replay, get to bed on time.

All good IMHO.

Perfect timeslot to watch a "lesser" opponent. You dont waste your social hours of the weekends on the footy. What else does anybody do at 5pm on a Sunday except sleep on the couch or peel spuds for the roast?

Just hate Sunday in all senses. In saying this though, I'm not really fussed. Would prefer Saturday Twilight because by Sunday Twilight everyone is pretty sick of footy for the weekend but I don't really care.

I really liked it but to be honest I got i bit obsessed with the sun set during the game. I usually sit in the ponsford but because I knew we where in for a sun set I sat at the opposite end!

Can be too hard with kids if the other half is busy etc... Much easier to organise evening or daytime

I like watching a good neutral game on Sunday twilight but it's a pain in the arse waiting all weekend to watch the Pies play in it. Not sure I'd be a fan of attending that time slot either.
