Hey all,
Just interested in your thoughts on this. I think that Ty has become a much more valuable player to the RFC with the new interchange rule. With the 3 on the bench and 1 sub, I think that the days of the 2nd strait out ruckman (ie Mark Blake) are over. I think that your 2nd ruckman will need to be able to play forward as well so that you can continue to rotate your midfielders.

I am not convinced that Ty will become a number 1 ruckman, however I think he will be a perfect 2nd ruckman under these new rules. I think we need to play Ty as a forward to give Jack and co a hand and maybe play 25% in the ruck.

Would be nice if this were to eventuate. But TV has a lot of work to do in this area. His contested marking is still well under par to play that role effectively, but he has time on his side.

Ty is developing fantastically well! he will be a super player im confident

Don't forget this coming year will be his third (?) in the system. When did Jack come good for us? Half way through his fourth? Plenty of time to develop, so yeah, agree.:thumbsu:

I don't see too much advantage for Ty in the rule change. Most teams have enough talls to throw into the Ruck, or play the Ruck in the forward line to 'rest'. Yeah, maybe he's got more forward experience than a backup ruckman, but its not like he's a gun forward (yet)
He needs to develop, as all young players do, and especially talls. I wouldn't expect to see him play consistent footy for at least another 3 years.

One of the more interesting things about 2011 is what stratergies are employed to maximise the impact of the substitute. Versatile players will become more valuable. I have big hopes this will apply to Vickery.
