List Mgmt. Tyson traded for pick 2

I can see why from our POV (we're not going to use heaps of picks so the higher the better, Tyson's coming off a bad injury) but I'm struggling to see what the benefit for Melbourne is. It'll be interesting to see the full info.

I'm not unhappy about this. Tyson is skillful but lacks speed and is still a few years off. I think it's pretty clear we were keen to pick up Scharenberg. Although maybe Kelly is a possibility too??

Word is that sos is super keen on kelly

I am happy with that. Tyson is class but is years away. And if he didn't impress after a season in the NEAFL...

I always thought trading high draftees for high draft picks years later would occur.

I am tipping we trade away pick 1 now.

Nope. Boyd strikes me as an excellent third tall ;)

The more I think about this trade the happier I get.

Tyson was behind Ward, Scully, Treloar, Shiel, Whitfield, Coniglio, Adams, Smith etc. No doubt he has been very unlucky with injury but given his strong family links in Melbourne it is probably good for all parties.

surely the Giants will take James Aish with pick 2, he is by far the second best player in the draft, he is highly skillful and a can't miss project

Pretty sure Boyd is locked in, I think they even did a medical at draft camp. The choice for pick 2 is Kelly/Scharenberg/Aish

Compo pick for GWS signing an out of contract player :)

We've done a lot of trading in our time :)

Compensation pick was traded to us from the cats with jack martin trade

Thanks :thumbsu: ...couldn't find the info anywhere.

I guess you guys wanted to ensure that you got Boyd and your pick of the rest....you do you think will go at 2?

NFI actually - there's reasons that the whole top bracket of players do and dont make sense for GWS.

It wouldnt amaze me if we did more trading in the top ten ... remember, we have Bruce to trade out yet, and then theres the whole Adams/Shaw thing.

All of Dom's friends in melbourne have been regularly sprouting that Dom is super keen to come back to Melbourne once his initial contract is up, and those whispers started a few weeks after he first got to GWS and never really stopped.

Highly suspect here Dom has tapped GWS on the shoulder and said let's keep this in house but can you please get me to melbourne which is where this deal came from.

It's all academic, but he signed a contract extension earlier in the year. Not sure how those regular sproutings make sense with that undeniable fact.

Gutted to lose him, but in all fairness, he was a fair bit behind a lot of others (yes I know injury has played its part). We should be able to use pick 20 for Bernie Vince now (given we were looking at 27 for him with the Shaw deal that hasn't happened yet).

Good luck to Dom with everything from here on in.

How many years away will pick 2 be?

Who would you prefer?

Trading Dom Tyson for Scharenberg seem ridiculous to me.

Very much doubt Scharenberg is in the conversation, hearing Kelly is pretty much a lock for us especially given our pro - vic drafting policy and for mine would likely be a step up on Dom
