Uber/Ola are utter garbage now. So many arseh*le drivers

Accept a fare then not show up, waiting for you to cancel. Or deliberately drive the wrong way. Why?!

It isnt cheaper any more either

I had recently that got to my street from 10 mins away and then rather than turn left to get me he just kept driving and cancelled. Wtf

Of course "customer service" is non existent. Its all automated responses that get you nowhere (Ola especially here. There's is a disgrace).

What was sensational when it started has become worse than a taxi. Other than knowing what a fare will cost prior to the ride there arent that many advantages to ride share now. Short trips in cbd still good
The cost benefit being so diminished is ultimately what is killing it (i say having no idea if its doing well or not).

If its cheap i dont expect it to be good, ultimately im literally getting from a to b but when its now not cheaper than most other forms of transport AND its shit i wont use it.

Had some really good drivers. Talk shit the whole way and its good. The russian roulette as to whether they'll actually show up drives me mad

Ola customer service needs regulation its so bloody bad. I had a guy take me a terrible way home costing $110 for a $40 fare. They had no way to be contacted other than their bot shite. Deleted the app, useless

I dont think any of these are profitable (could be wrong now, maybe they are but they werent for years) which is bizarre given how little drivers are paid, how widely they're used and how much they gouge restaurants on food order/delivery (uber)

When on holidays up on the GC walked past some food shops .
Noticed one bloke picking up uber eats ...the bag they use he had it was not zipped up he was hanging on the one strap ,food almost falling out ..

Someone would of could cold food .

I think the drivers cancelling rides is a legit problem and they need to try and find a solution. But to me in general there are still many reasons to use Uber over a Taxi. I got a Taxi for the first time absolutely shitfaced about a month ago and it was fine, however the reasons I mainly use an uber remain.
1 - security reasons - I feel like if you leave something in an uber, or there is an altercation with a driver that your chances of sorting this out are higher with Uber as you can actually contact the driver or Uber. Obviously depends on the driver but still.
2 - customer service - back in the day ordering a cab or trying to receive some sort of customer service was such a hassle. Basically impossible. It's probably happened to me 4 or 5 times since I've been using Uber which was 2016, the drivers drop you off but continue driving another 10 or so minutes before ending the trip. Thinking that you're dumb enough to not notice that they've taken another $20+ from you.

I don't even want to keep numbering them, but things like splitting fairs, the convenience of ordering an XL easily. It's still a better service IMO.
Are all these sorts of things available in Taxis now?

Its obviously dependent on what and how you use it and you make some good points.

Ultimately for me (and most of my mates) its a once in a blue moon, had a few too many and missed the last train home deal where its going to almost certainly be surge pricing (due to being later at night) and in the CBD etc.

Ubers are no more convenient than a cab and usually wind up being much more expensive.

Yep. Our cities are quite different too. I don't really understand the Melbourne going out culture and it confuses me when I hear people catching trains home from the city late at night etc. Adelaide is so small it's just an uber for most people.

I have started catching the train late at night to get home from the city again.

Stations have been improved and they usually have security at every station now.

Atleast one thing the Andrews government gets a tick for.

I only use uber locally to a mates place or the pub so doesn't cost much. Ive never had an issue with uber drivers cancelling or taking the wrong route. Always get the job done. Where I live, I wouldn't trust a cab turning up

Sometimes I look the next day and think, geez but more than I expected but not a big deal. Do laugh when the ride home at 2am was cheaper than the ride there at 5pm....poor bugger working the 2am shift [emoji1787]
