I feel for Neuer a bit. It's a tough gig being a keeper as any mistake is usually amplified when the other mob score. He's made a handful of quite brilliant saves during the match though.

The linesman made a big mistake in putting his flag up here. The ref has to blow up. So once the whistle has blown and the players stop, VAR can't get involved. It looks like de Ligt's knee is level with Rudiger's back foot.

They just find a way, it’s in Real Madrid’s DNA in the CL. To lose it under those circumstances for Bayern though, wow. Neuer has made a string of brilliant saves however just a slight bobble off his chest and it’s punished to the maximum, as is the case so often for many GK errors.

I think parrying the shot would have been dangerous with Joselu right there, so collecting it would have been the safest bet. That has been a routine save for Neuer throughout his career, but tonight he happened to make an error on a shot he has had no issues with countless times before. It’s a shame for him that it happened in such a big match.

This is trained into keepers over and over again up to elite level. Never, ever attempt a catch unless you are 100% certain you will collect and you won't spill it.

If the ball bounced normally it's a comfortable catch in his midriff. If it skipped up off the turf then he would have had no time to react. Just unlucky if that happened.

And yet Neuer didn’t try to ”parry the shot out for a corner.”. Which suggests that he was comfortable in his own ability to make a routine save. And it was a routine save off a shot that shouldn’t have troubled him.
