They were disgraceful!!!!!!!!

The ruckman couldn't get a clear run at it a lot of the time. It helped the Dogs of course as Dracy doesn't jump much at the centre bounces and would have got towelled up by Grady had they bounced it properly. A clear diadvantage to us, this is!!! It hinders Gardy and isn't really fair. If they ain't gettin the bouncing right early in the game maybe go for the throw up????Of the few times they did get it right Grady showed why he is the number 1 ruckman if the afl. Some of those taps were ... smooth! The ones he sent down to Flecther come to mind in particular.

Even after all that, though, Grady was still able to play a great match!!!
Sign Of A Star!!!!! but seriously a lot of those centre bounces from the umps were utter crap!

Amen. Agree with the bounces...they were appalling. Cox couldn't get it right at the start, he jumped too early, then Darcy tried that illegal basketball maneover on Gardy (not Grady!). But the umpires were downright disgraceful all game...mainly for the Bullies though. Bad umpiring ruins a game and sours an otherwise sweet win.

Just watched it on Video and the umpires are really bad (must be a round 1 thing).. Then after that me and my friends went outside and tried bouncing the ball.. Took a few trys to get used to it and we finally can get a good bounce 80% of the time.. Not as hard as the umpires make it seem ;)

the umpire bounces on the weekend were VERY poor.

something about that must be done, otherwise the AFL i feel will be forced to get rid of the bounce all together. Which is dissapointing i reckon, because it's something unique that our game has which no others have.

Throwing it up - Would be better how ever takes away the uniqueness of it.

Keep on bouncing - Can disadvantage you and sometimes advantage, the unpredictability of sport.

Well if the umps stuff up their bouncing they get dropped for the next round, so whoever did that game could be off this week to practice more.

Totally agree.. How are you meant to get an oval ball to bounce straight ALL the time? Sam Newman tried to prove the umps wrong last year on the FS and that back fired.. Just shows how hard it actually is..

I think its more of a pressure thing.. As I truely believe at training they would bounce the ball very well however during games it adds pressure, not to mention the 200cm / 100KG beast shouting in your ear when u have a crap bounce. :)

Much like players I guess. They Look a million bucks on the training track and when playing a game, can't make a simple kick for goal from 10m out directly in front (Wilson?) because of the added pressure.

On the umpiring subject, i'm close to someone who used to be an AFL umpire of some sort, do you think the boundary and goal umpiring is become to specific, remember how it used to be in the 70's? (fox footy flashbacks), the flags would be on the ground and there was no technique to speak off, how ever they got the job done. I know sport is a job now and is more professional I just wish some of the pressure was taken of the officials because I know it would help there performance.

Only Matthew James can bounce the ball and make it go straight. Not too sure if Cox was jumping early because of the bounces - it seemed either he had lost his judgement or was deliberately going early to get Darcy off his game

Wayne Grady doesnt play for the Eagles.

Seriously learn to spell. They are players on YOUR team. Clown

Used to be for the bounce, am increasingly growing against keeping it now, the umps just CANT do it! No point keeping tradition if the tradition isnt at all working and is hampering the game/potentially causing injuries.
