Think there were clearly three wrong decisions that gave WC goals

1) Holding the ball against melksham in the first quarter - no prior opportunity
2) Kennedy fending off McVeigh - And the ball was out of bounds
3) Cox free against Fletcher - No offence committed.

But these three decisions were in the first half when the game was in dispute - So probably had no influence in the result of the game.

Just watching the game again without emotion and I have to say Essendon really threw it away.

You gave a 50 to Shuey that resulted in a goal.
You took a mark 25 out and blazed away to miss in red time.
Fletch pinpointed Hurn twice with his kickins that resulted both times in goals.
Some set shots missed didn't help either.
Just with the Shuey 50..... He runs at NLM so what's he suppose to do?? just stand there. Yes he grabbed him high but the sensible thing that the umpire should have done was told Shuey that he had the free so no need to go after NLM. My opinion anyway
I just laugh whenever we go over to Perth. Always gonna get jibbed with the umpiring.
Whats with HTB decisions over there?? We had two in the first minute against fremantle which resulted in a goal(s) and the Melksham one this week was just about the worse for the year.

1. Agreed but should've been deliberate against Fletcher just before that which would've resulted in a shot at goal from the same distance but much tougher angle.
2. Agreed.
3. Was a clear free Fletcher put his arms around Cox you simply can't do that.

The Shuey 50 was there Shuey was just getting NLM's face but NLM decided to make it physical and put his arms around Shuey's neck. A definite 50.

McVeigh's reaction said it all. First he grabbed his throat in disbelief that no free was awarded, then pointed towards then boundry when Kennedy took the ball a metre out of bounds.

Funny stuff it was. The boundry umpire can enjoy his holiday this week.

What is your problem.

The three highlighted decisions had no influence in the result in the game.

If these three decisions had occurred in the second half of the game - And the game was an arm wrestle - Then it may have an influence.

Kaiser

Have to agree to disagree about the Fletcher/Cox decision - Fletch didn't wrap up Cox at all - Clean spoil in a body on body contest.

I can live with the kennedy fend off as the umpire was unsighted.

I can live with the other eagles player that fended off Reimers as the umpire was unsighted... I think.

What I can't live with is the free paid to Kerr for a high fend off from Reimers. it was a disgraceful call.

How do you know? Either way it was the correct decision you can't put your arms around somebodys head.

He paid the 50 after he pushed Shuey in the chest. NLM should have know better than to think that an AFL footballer would carry himself like a man.

Wow. It looks like Freo's getting a sweet ride.

Dunno about that, but cast your minds back to one Nick Lower not giving the ball directly back to one Leroy Jetta... and yet no 50M penalty.

It's a joke.

That was at a crucial stage of the game also. We were on a roll, had all the momentum and I believe that would have put us back under 3 goals behind.

Ump doesn't pay it ball goes fown the other end, they kick a goal, game over.

I'm agreeing with you entirely, we had so many pro eagles decisions yesterday - I'm not here to stir. I'm just saying 20 more free kicks over the course of 11 home games is a little less than 2 extra frees per game. Every eagles fan who's seen more than 30 seconds of football will tell you Dean Margetts is an absolute hack of an umpire, he just went towards us yesterday (which for us is a change).

Anyone who says the Eagles didn't have the clear 'win' regarding umpires is kidding themselves, there were so many anti-Essendon or pro-Eagles calls that just got plucked from nowhere, but having 2 more free kicks per home game on average isn't really a credit to that argument.

And I tipped Essendon against Freo that week, it cost me 8, I was going for you guys and yes - that non called 50 metre which would have 100% given you a goal was a shocker. Seems you have had a pretty hard run at Subi, but I think there's better arguments than using those eagles numbers. Use the four or five blatantly obvious ones, ones that not even Gieschen could dispute or say were 'technically correct', and then use the 50/50 ones that clearly went our way (the ones Giesch will try and say the umpire got right), but don't use those numbers.

I was there and no you didn't miss anything. Eagle supporters seemed to think Watson was staging. They watched the replay on the screen and then booed him off as he was helped from the ground. The nuffies per square metre at any eagles home game is one of the highest you'd see outside a Christian Democratic Party rally.

The umpiring was terrible and clearly favoured them. I think the differential was 8 their way in the end? Seeing Lynch get tackled twice and drop the ball two metres away from the umpire who called play on was the icing on the cake for me.

And the candle on the cake was the crusty old bastard who thought it was a great joke to tell me and my mate on top note that no Essendon supporters were allowed on the train we were trying to board after the match. Yeah that's hilarious pops. Just take your four points and shut the **** up.
Cheers for the insight mate. Just had a look at their board... Most think the Waters incident will be thrown out. Haha, incredible. Quite a clueless bunch!

Cost us about 5 goals IMHO, and I only saw the last quarter and a bit.

NicNat clearly gets different rules to everyone else. Kerr & so on allowed far more latitude to get rid of it. Overall the umpires were cowed by the fans.

ammm, the guy totally failed in his job,, i give the umpire a bit of leway if gets caught behind the ball, but he was straight down the line less than 10metres away, surely he wont be umpiring the rest of the year....

Many clueless people in the media then too going on that rationale. There's been plenty of debate on the incident on the panel shows...many of them think/hope it will be too

Will be an interesting one to watch
