Does anyone get regular phone calls from their manager for a positive affirmation? Of course not, more likely a kick up the arse or a direct instruction...

It's the lie they tell to cover another lie. They need to come up with some explanation as to why umps have these things but they realize they can't tell the truth. Obvious to anyone that understands the typical patterns of lying.

100%. I have a Tiger buddy that I found difficult to convince that there has been something going on with Free Kick counts. So we watched a game together at my place and counted the free kicks for both sides. We both agreed on our numbers, but the "official" AFL game App was not what we had. Funnily enough, Tigers had less and the oppo (Carlton) had more.

We continued the experiment back to our DVD collections of the 3 premierships and picked games at random. No surprises - the free kick counts we not what was on the AFL app for that game. Sometimes they were right.

They fiddle the numbers because of the optics

The whole comp is a dumpster fire.

Other than raising money through TV deals, the fools in senior positions have never been brilliant at AFL house, bordering corrupt. The current crop are bordering ridiculous.

2 of the nongs that have helped create the mess that we currently have are the CEO of Geelong and the coach of Essendon.

There was talk the other day of bringing back the COLA. I live in Sydney - yeah it's expensive, but so are most capitals in Australia and the people employed at footy departments are on decent coin. Sure they might not be able to buy a house in the eastern suburbs near swans HQ - but most of Sydney can't either and don't live that side of the city. Population of Sydney is over 5 million - about 270,000 live in the Eastern Suburbs.

The Swans and the Giants are going to be top teams for the next few years and could very well dominate. Gold Coast are a couple of years after that, but they have far too much talent to not dominate too.

So we're going to give them another massive leg up on top of the academy picks are we?

How about an even competition with 100% transparency, including umpiring.

FMD I think you'll find most fans have had enough of this bullshit.

Detecting a signal is pretty straight forward and could be done with a USB stick sized dongle plugged into a phone. If it's encrypted though, not much point.

Why would they need the signal to be encrypted, if they are only giving positive affirmation to the umpires between goals, as is claimed? What's so sensitive about that, that they feel the need to encrypted the signal?

And if the answer is its encrypted for the integrity of the game, that's gas lighting.

Make the calls public.

If people keep asking questions and this doesn't go quiet, the afl doesn't have a winning hand.
