Credit where credit is due.

I thought the umpiring effort Saints v Hawks was superb.
They paid a few 50's but they were justified, they were consistent, one and all, and they were consistent throughout the match.

The final tally Saints 13 v 17 Hawks probably was a true reflection of how they should have gone.

The field umpires were Margetts, Donlon, Ryan.

Congrats guys on a job well done !

And what's the common factor? I haven't heard of any of 'em.

Fantastic effort.

That's now 6 out of the last 72 games of AFL I've watched. (Interestingly, at local level 80-90% of games are 'well umpired' why is it the elite level where they are so uneven?)

I think home crowds make a big difference.
In an interstate match, the crowds are so one sided that the umpires start to respond to the demands for free kicks for the home team.

I can't explain matches where two Vic teams are playing as easily.
