your memory is as sharp as a razor, now Im no footy geek that remembers absolutley every thing, but i clearly remember that Adelaide game and the north game round 6 in 09 at etihad, after this game malthouse complained, the next time he umpired a pies game the guy was giving out frees to the pies like he was santa at xmas time. I hate umpires they control the feel of the game its them and not the players that set the tempo. I pay $400 membership and $1000 foxtel A YEAR to watch footy FFS. The game is much bigger than these ********s and the match review panel. The americans sent monkeys into space in the 60;s ffs train monkeys up to do umpiring.

Bucks should have said something. It's not the frees against us so much, it was the ones we weren't blatantly receiving that was laughable.

Sir Alex Ferguson does it better than anyone else around the world. He cops his fine, he wears it but big deal. The next time those officials or any official is in charge of a Manchester game, they are rather nervous about what they do and don't call- which is exactly the desired outcome Ferguson had set out to achieve.

I agree I've said this all along, I just wish someone would grow some ****ing balls and cop a fine to put some heat on these muppets. The problem is the umpires think they're untouchable so they parade around and do whatever they want.

Ugle I think you are referring to. Having been the sub he should have had a good view of the umpiring trend and not even bothered to take possession.

West Coast have won the free kick count in every game thus far, with a total of 157 for and 97 against. That's an average per game of +10. Ridiculous.

In contrast we have lost the count for the last five games in a row and have totals of 92 for and 110 against.

Over there the Eagles get an average of 31 frees, when the average per side in all other games is 19. That's a 63% advantage to them.

Needs to be looked at ASAP, Clarkson was on the money two weeks ago, the duck-duck-goose game continues.
 
Haven't read the thread, but I'll say straight off the bat that the umpiring this year is ten times better than it's been for several years.

I imagine the WC/Pies discrepancy is related to the ducking. THAT is an utter disgrace as was Hawks sliding tactic.

I'm glad they rubbed out the slide tackle as a deliberate tactic to take legs out, but surely the neck is even more important as an OHS issue. The AFL have no excuse here as we raised it as a club two years ago re Joel Selwood. It's an utter pox now. Against the spirit and very dangerous.
 
Umpiring for collingwood games this year has been shocking and got worse with each game.
Friday night's game was so bad I believe the umpires, particularly No.17, Justin Schmidt, could be match fixing or has a deep hatred of collingwood or maybe Demtriou had asked him to stir trouble, trouble = media attention = more $$
 
I was at the GC vs Freo game last night with the Mrs (GC Member).

The Griffin non paid ruck free kick was a disgrace. Zac Smith got done for the same thing at the same end earlier in the game which was paid (correct decision).

The holding the ball/incorrect disposal rule is so hard to understand it's ridiculous. Players can now drop the ball, throw it out, put it on the ground and hand it to team mates.

Jeff Geison should be sent packing, couldn't play, coach or umpire coach to save himself.

The thing is that our club raised this ducking thing in 2010 when Joel Selwood did it about 6 times in the rd 19 game, and everyone else was like 'WTF are you on about?'. Now all clubs are complaining about it.

It is just sticking your head in the sand if you say 'they get the ball first, go in harder etc'.
