Ok ok before this thread is raided by "we love monty posters", I just want to say I think M0nty needs to get some other company to be his server because since round 4 this year, Fanfooty hasnt been a pleasent place to be. Yes I do recognize the fact yes its a free site etc etc But with the current problems that Fanfooty is having. Its doing more harm than good in regards to reputation.

So I propose that M0nty needs to go back to the old server I have put polls in please vote whether you want M0nty to go back to the old server or at least use another company for his server.

Dont get me wrong M0nty I love your work BUT I cant handle this BS much longer. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I'm sure if he tried to go back to the old server there would be more bugs again which would need to be fixed and the same problem with a new provider and server. We are just going to have to wait until it gets fixed, nothing we can do. It is getting better every week, site has not gone down yet for me it just has a few undefined which all u have to do is go back to the home and reload it.

It's not as simple as going back to the old server. The problems have coincided with the start of the league games, which always leads to an increase in traffic, and our current traffic is larger than anything we've had to deal with before. We're actually on two servers now, but we're still having problems coping with demand. It was better tonight than last week, I think. Nearly there.

Keep up the good work Monty. Love the new match day blog, and new setup with the 1/2 time scoring competition.

Sounds like the site is booming - congrats!

You guys who are complaining need to have some patience: or use the AFL matchday live site or build your own (and pay for your own) website!

Also, i dont think we really get a say in how monty runs his site, that we all have access to for FREE.

Yeah the AFL site is also free but when it goes down I bet 95% of us whinge about being down.

I hope so M0nty I really do Because I'm so over seeing the word undefined on that page I do love the FF site I just wish it would stay up longer than it has been.

amazing free resource, however frustrating the hell out of me.

I have to be honest, I've started to go across to the matchday facility on afl.com.au for the live dreamteam scores, because of being frustrated with all of the undefineds at Fan Footy.

It's a great service, Monty. - Wish I though of it first. I'm surprised VirtualSports haven't stolen your layout by now. So in that respect, you're really picking up their slack. I reckon you probably get 50-60 thousand open threads per match, with page loads every 15 seconds. - That's insane!

It's almost too big for you to control privately anymore. There's so much public reliance on your system that down time during a match is like Google going down during a week day.

Not a bad problem to have though I suppose. If it were me I would just squeeze the advertises for more as demand and traffic increases. Failing that, there's plenty of good people out there in the DT community who would love to assist.

Can I suggest that the third option also should be: "its Monty's site and he should do what ever he wants"?

I just think people should use the PM option instead of creating a thread about this topic. If you're really concerned about his service, then just message him yourself.

Anyway, seeing the way Monty deals with his site and its users; I am sure he is doing everything physically and FINANCIALLY possible.

Lol. Seems to me like it's become bigger than just "Monty's site". - Not a criticism in any way. It's just what happens when websites grow. Facebook started as a sort of extranet for uni friends. It now has corporate advertising, stock value, but most importantly the load capacity to support its massive user-base. - And in the end was just a rip-off of MySpace, but done better!

Fanfooty appears to be at a crossroads now. For every adoring and honest fan, there's a naive one that takes the service for granted. There's enough dissent there for another 'Fanfooty' rip-off to emerge, business strategy in hand, that will provide the stability that Fanfooty doesn't. And then what will happen? Another Myspace to Facebook kind of migration. Then what will really hurt is that this new player will be in it for money, and still win!

The idea is out there. All it takes now is a bank loan and the know-how to pinch it straight off Monty. That's the hard truth.

FanFooty is such a valuable resource for so many fans that I can understand posters getting upset when it goes down. I'm sure the site's reliability is an issue that we all feel could be improved, not the least Monty.

While there is considerable overlap of interested persons, this probably isn't the most appropriate place to voice criticism or concern.

I, for one, am pleased with the service FanFooty provides and I try to be tolerant of the service interruptions as it represents a consequence of the vast increase in usage that comes as others discover the site and make it part of their weekend ritual. It is that traffic which allows the service not only to exist but also to continue to improve over time.

I'm an enormous fan of Monty's site and (especially) the podcast, and would never want anything that is said to be considering criticism of the time and money he's invested in the site.

But as long as we're being respectful and grown-up about it, I think bigfooty is probably the ideal place to discuss the site. You're talking two of the most influential AFL websites currently online. If Monty wasn't a visible poster here, I think people would be discussing the site (and its pros and cons) a lot more.

I have no problem with BigFooty posters talking about FanFooty. Well within the rights of both BF and its posters as a subject of discussion.

Yea this is an outrage!

I think that everyone should ask for their money back.

... Oh wait, it's a free service he is providing. :o

Well then we should boycott his site and move to another one.

... Hang on, can't find another site that does what he does or anywhere near as good. :o

Ahh, I know, maybe we should stop winging like a pack of ungrateful pricks and show some respect for a bloke that has put in the effort to provide us with a service (that clearly is very important to everyone) that nobody else does and been generous enough to give us this for nothing!

... Yes, yes that should work.

hey monty, any chance of there being a cut down iphone app version of fanfooty for live scores? i'd pay good money for that app!

the undefined error comes up every now and then for me, but just refreshing the page seems to fix it.

don't know what i'd do without fanfooty live scores monty, so thanks!

I didn't vote because there's no "It's a bit frustrating at the moment, but I'm sure m0nty is doing his best to get it right" option.

Maybe if all the people with a "me, me, me" mentality rack off and get their stats elsewhere the site will run a bit faster for the people who are a bit more considerate and appreciative of other people's efforts to provide us with an invaluable free resource.

I've got a good idea. Build your own sites if it's not good enough for ya. Sooks

Some of you need to get down from your high horse. Nobody is being disrespectful and saying what MUST be done. They're providing feedback due to the fact the site has been running poorly in comparison to what we've seen before. If the site wasn't administered in such an open way I doubt anybody would be critical of these sorts of posts. I'm sure m0nty isn't content with the site's performance either, but that leads me to another point; one can't simply switch back to the old server... and think about some of the reasons that may have triggered the move! He didn't do it for shits and giggles.
