I'm not going to come out on one person's side or another here, but what I do have to say is this: all of you, pretty much, are saying it'll do the player good or bad if he gets dropped to the seconds, and that's great. But what about the team?

A football team consists of about 20 players taking to the ground in a particular game. If 1 or 2 of those players aren't performing, and they really should be, you have to use some sort of tactic (benching them, dropping them, sitting down and talking to them) to get them to perform. But whatever ND does, he has to do it quickly, otherwise the team will suffer.

Another point: look at it from the point of view of a player who has just acheived match fitness after playing in the two's. He's ready, he's fit, he's fired up, yet he has been told he has to wait another week because some under-acheiving champion hasn't quite got his act together yet, but "this could be his (the champion) week". How is the player in the two's going to feel about that? He could get apathetic, play a lousy game, and stuff up his chances to play the following week.

Something has to be done, and it has to be done soon.
Well said madboy.

Ok thats it, I can't take this anymore!
I talked to Robbo today at the VFL match and you guys brought all these ideas that he should be dropped into my head and to tell you the truth no one around the club feels the way you do. I mean here I was talking to Robbo and he was trying to justify himself to me and I just felt horrible coz he is trying, and its not fair that we all expect him to be a super star week in and week out and kick 5 goals every match. He was telling me that he has now played 50 games in a row and its tough and he will just have to handle the critisism and move on. He also made it pretty clear to me that there has been off field stuff going on with him and so I really think we should all just give him a break. He has been playing like sh@t, he admited that, but he has been trying and he will keep on trying and no critisism will change that.
First of all, he is an AFL footballer. He has to accept criticism. If he can't handle it, he should get out now.
Why shouldn't he be dropped. Tell me 1 good thing he has done in the past 3 weeks? Last round was just the tip of the iceberg. I am serious here. You know I am quite a fan of Robbo, but he needs to find his old self again, or if he is carrying an injury then he should not be playing.

Sorry Or, Dees01 is right there. So was Madboy.

We know you adore Robbo, and that is why we are trying to be nice about it. But like they said, why shouldn't he be dropped?? What makes him immune to it?? Regardless of personal problems, form or if he is trying. All players try, he is not one of a select few that do. We won't leave him alone about it either.

I dunno, I am trying to say stuff that aint coming out. Bottom line, he has to be dropped. I can't say it any other way. 3 weeks of nothing is not good enough, and if he has personal problems or whatever, then he should do what's best for the team and let someone in a bit of form come in so our team is at it's best.

Sorry Or, I know you can't see past it, but that is the facts. And it's the truth.

Well I'm sticking to my promise that I will not comment on the matter anymore.
Yes maybe I am thinking with my heart and I am just treating him differently because he is my favorite player, but there are just things you don't get and maybe thats a good thing, but I spoke to him on Sunday and I'm now of a firm belief he should not be dropped and thats all there is to my opinion.
I can see where you guys are coming from but I just can't get into the whole thing right now, sorry.

Fair enough. I won't push it.
