I was just curious as to see who from BigFooty got into uni for next year, and what they're doing.

I had to do the STAT this year, after being at the bottom end of the scale in the super NSW 07 class, so after a few years I did the STAT to get into Uni now that I'm settled in SA, and with a score of 155 (out of 200) (140 in the English crap and 170 in the maths stuff) I got an invite to University of South Australia, City West campus to do Event and Tourism management

I will probably turn this into a double degree down the track, either Sports and recreation management or marketing.

So, with offers for those who did the STAT out (at least in SA) I was wondering who else from the BigFooty community got into Uni for next year, and what are you doing?

also, for those who did year 12 this year, I know you dont get your offers for another month, but what has everyone applied for?

applying for Arts at Melbourne Uni (hoping to do the Juris Doctor after), need 89.00 in ATAR, which i would be disappointed if i didn't get :thumbsu:

Bachelor of Commerce at Murdoch.

I'd rather be doing something musical, but i don't have the gonads (Yet).

Oh and Mattman, if you do end up doing Law at UWA; theres a couple of very attractive bishes i know beginning the same course next year ;)

Most likely my final year of Commerce at UNSW.

I find my year 12 results on thursday and whether I get my first or second preference. Nervous times. :(

Going to UWA next year for certain so I don't need to worry about results. Still unsure what to do, Engineering first preference but I might change it...

You shouldn't have your uni pencilled in before you even know what you're doing . Just because it is regarded as the best university in WA doesn't mean every single one of its courses is the best in the state. Even ECU (i know, i know :o) is regarded by a lot of people as the best university for education degrees. Choose what you want to do first then the uni.

Also, if you're thinking about doing engineering and you're going to get a pretty good TER/ATAR, or whatever its called now, you should think about having curtin as your first preference just as much as UWA. They give out a shitload of scholarships just based on whether your ATAR is high enough. Many people even say its a better degree at curtin but they're probably pretty similar tbh.
But seriously dude, money is good. (Although you probably shouldn't let any scholarships factor in too much when deciding your career path.)

Didn't really mind what uni I was going to go to (living in the country nobody really cares/knows the reputation of the uni's anyway) but I placed it as my first preference and I got the award/scholarship for it given out at each school which gives you guaranteed entry + $500 (obviously on the condition that I go there). I did put Curtin engineering as my second choice and some people I know say that it would be a good option but I also know people who say the UWA course is just as good. The more I think about it, I think I will go for engineering, just not sure what type to specialise in, heaps of choices.

Ah i see where you're coming from now.
Yeah I'd say they're probably pretty similar, i've heard both been called the better option. Did you check out the scholarships curtin is offering - i'm not sure whether they're doing them again this year but they probably are. If they aren't doing them still or you don't think you'll be eligible and you're set on doing engineering you may as well go to UWA with your scholarship thingy, its also got the better reputation so that counts for a bit.
Oh and you can choose your specialisation after your first year with both universities so i wouldn't be too concerned about it. I only chose my discipline about a week or two ago and it nearly reached the state of flipping a coin :(:o
Anyway good luck with your results dude

Thanks. But now it doesn't matter what my results are (if I go to UWA), Curtin is still an option, I checked the scholarships page and it seems that whoever they consider to have "demonstrated academic excellence" gets "a $5,000 cash payment per year to assist with costs associated with studying (textbooks, incidental expenses etc) for the normal expected duration of the degree for which the Scholarship is offered" which sounds good. Not sure if I'm still eligible since it wasn't my first preference, but it's still good to know these things. Cheers!
