Just wanted to drop a line to say badlack to you guys tonight. If it wasn't for all of your injuries there's no doubt you would have beaten us... Just simply ran out of legs early in the last.
At least one positive you can take out of tonights game and thats knowing that you can still play some great football even without your two gun forwards.

All in all a super effort by your boys...One you should be proud of

Yep agreed. Terrific effort by the Dons and we were lucky tonight IMO.

Cheers, mate. I think every Essendon supporter is just devastated right now. A 40 point turn around in the last quarter.

We scored 2 points in that last quarter, 2.

Proud of the Dons tonight, does not take away the fact that we gave away a start again! When you chase tail all night (scoreboard) it takes an extraordinary physical effort to get back into the contest.. something which obviously is not sustainable the way we play! We need to start better!
 
First quarter was far and away the worst they have played this year. It was pathetic.

Should have gotten to a bigger gap by the third quarter, be didn't make them pay.

No forwards hurt us in the last when we bombed it in. Injuries ruined us.
 
I ____ing hate this!!!! every week we lose a key player. great effort by the boys tonight and showed us what we would be like in a few years time without lloyd and lucas.
 
Sorry to crash your board but I had to say another top game from the Bombers ( and The Doggies).
A bit of bad luck with McViegh and the other player coming off at a critical stage.

Sydney Swans players should be forced to watch this game several times to get an idea of what quality footy is.
The pace was frenetic and it was a very entertaining game.
You have some mighty quick boys in your squad.

You guys ran yourselves into the ground literally. Great effort, but seriously, take it from the dogs, its impossible to run that fast, that hard, for an entire game, let alone an entire season. Especially on the hard ground of the dome. If you guys dont pace yourselves more you will drop away in the second half of the season badly.

That 3rd term we looked really tired chasing you guys..
 
How they won the game by 30 points in the end was a travisty of justice...

They deserved the win in the end with a better final quarter, but there is NO WAY they were five goals better off...

Looking forward to next time.
 
Thanks guys - I was feeling a bit empty after being at the game and watching the last quarter.

It was a great game of football, pity Essendon ran out of legs (literally) and had no opportunity to make a contest at the end. Bulldogs did play well and deserve the four points no question, hope you guys can carry the form through and make a charge at September! (except for if/when you play us again, that is :D )
 
Bad luck guys, I'm really impressed by you lot. Considering you were missing two of you best players, if not your two best players, you gave us a good contest and may have won had it not been for injury.

Good luck for the season, you are my least liked club (too many supporters my age who keep using the "how many premierships have you won?" line) but have definitely shown you can play a good exciting style of footy and have a future beyond the likes of Lucas and lloyd.

We have been there done the injury thing last season it is truly frustrating. Having Lloyd and Lucas out at the same time was a blow. Knights is doing a great job instilling confidence into the club. It will all fall into place - hang in there.

I absolutely love the way McVeigh plays sorry to hear he has done his hammy - seeing him on the bench with that forlorn look on his face, told the story. Speedy recovery to him.

All the best for the remainder of the season.
 
I don't buy this the Dogs were lucky, they finished up five goal winners after being under the pump in the second and third quarters but hung in there to now be 4-0 and should beat Richmond next week so finally after a few years of threatening only to be hit by injury now the Dogs are putting it together.

Injuries happen to everyone and the key to being a good side is our to manage the injuries and while it's frustrating I would perfer these two or three injuries than the season ending ones and from an Essendon point of view we are 2-2.

Thanks to all the positive words from all the bulldogs supporters on bigfooty. It's always great to watch 2 teams put on a great display. congratulations to both team on a fantastic game.

Really, we went flat out for 2 quarters and gave it our all to grab the lead but in the end, injuries or no injuries, in that last quarter we were always going to be running on empty. The team's made fantatic progress this year but we need to learn how to pace out a game. The Bulldogs beat us in that area. They never looked like they were out of it and in the end had that little bit extra left in the tank.

Finally, to everyone who call for Stanton to be dropped, I hope you're all hanging your heads in shame. 27 possessions, 3 goals, 6 inside 50s says it all. He was awesome tonight. When will people learn that a class player never loses his class
 
Well done Doggies supporters you guys are superb.
There was no expectation before this game but the mighty Bombers surprised everyone. We showed we play with heart, and can play a defensive game as well. Our lightning speed is taking a toll on our kids, so after their bodies get stronger, (year or two) hopefully we will be able to field a full strenght team on most weeks. Ryder was superb, what a mark! Watson was good but still those loopy handballs his gotta stop. The kids will get better, give them time
 
We were very lucky last night.

Your blokes, the young ones inparticular, showed they could play confidently with alot of people out last night. That is a fantastic and exciting sign. The future looks bright:thumbsu:
