Well all,

After reading the more recent posts I see the attitude has now changed since round 1 when comments such as:
"I reckon we should go for all 22 wins this year" etc

Honestly, there were some sensible suggestions by some of your members to reel in the attitude and go for a more realistic target.

At the time I suggested 16 as I indicated you would be top 4 side. Sizteen wins now appears unlikely so try for 14 wins.

I hope you do Brisbane this week. If Carey wasn't injured and if Brisbane hadn't lost to the Swans, I would have tipped you. Unfortunately Adelaide will need 10 from the other 14 games. A tough ask on the current ratio.

Sadly it looks like another win down the gurgler this week (thus the ratio above) but dont despair, I still think you are a top 4 side. You just need to prove it to yourselves.

I couldn't agree with you more. 15-16 wins just about looks like out of reach. I give us a very slim chance against Brisbane but believe that after 8 rounds we will be 4-4 which is not good enough IMHO. The fact that both Brisbane and Port lost is somewhat in our favour but I stress again we cannot go dropping games that are an absolute must win games. I still think that we will make the top 4 if we don't get as many injuries to key players as we have now but top 2 realistically looks out of our reach.:(

Thanks for starting the rot saintfan:mad:
By the way; luck had nothing to do with the Collingwood loss; as our skills read chestmarks were down, our goalkicking was astray and closing down the last ruck scrimmage out on the wing didnt come close.

I am intruding I know but I think that for the so called interstate teams the only advantage in finishing top 4 is that you may get a weeks break if you win the first week.

YES. You get a double chance and you get the chance to progress straight to the preliminaries.

Whilst the luck didn't go our way with 4 posters, we should have never let the Pies back in the game when we had good leads. We were in control of our own destiny & blew it big time.

Of course! I knew there must be some other reason to aspire to those lofty heights!

Well gents
A few response to the above comments.

1 You had more of the ball but kicked yourselves out of it. You had more of the play but was less direct. I also thought Collingwood also brought their own umpires (geez I cant bleive I'm saying this). I still believe you were very unlucky. The Saints nearly did the same against Caaaarlton but actually had one or two umpire decisions favour us (not the case for Adalaide).

2 Considering the number of interstate teams in the top eight, I believe a top 4 position shouldbe quite benficial for Adelaide this year.

3 I cant remember the person who suggested winning 22 games.

4 I still wouldn't rule out a top 2 finish. You have the players to achieve this. Imagine if Carey comes back and actually fires for more than one quarter. Your midfield is still potentially the best in the league (yes better than Brisbane's). That is why you have generally performed well against the Lions (exclude that shocker in Brisbane last year in the mud and rain).

I can bloody well remember him, Pride of SA....wasn't it? I think he started the jinx with his wonderfully inept and ill-timed post. :p

He is as bad as KG's kiss-of-death! - hate it when he says we're over the line by heaps and puts down the opposition.
