Now that Carlton have Won.. Now is the time to unsack Ratten. Praise etc.. ****ing relax guys, stop calling for his head every time the team play badly. He can't control their sometimes lack of judgment on kicks, handballs etc. Discuss?

Funnily enough, the pro-sack Ratten crowd seems to have disappeared.

I wonder why? Oh that's right, we won........:D

Great second half!

We were however playing the worse team in the comp.

Lets reassess this time next week after we've played the Pies.

So......we played well, no probs, all is well - you can SUGARCOAT this as much as you want but to scrape in vs West Coast does not scream positive to me - sorry!

people get emotional when we lose. if we had of kept playing the same as we did in the first half then could you really defend him as a coach? it's just the way it is, you can't sack the players when we're losing so people call for the coaches head.

Yeah, when we're down it's Ratt's fault, when we win it's the players' good work

The difference was that the midfielders lifted and ran in the second half, something they haven't done the last few weeks.

Hard working & dominating midfielders make a HUGE difference to a team's overall structure

Where are all the Nuffies that jumped on at half time calling for his head? or said he's lost the players?:o:rolleyes:

I don't think he's lost the players, but regardless of the win tonight something still seems to be missing from the team that beat Geelong and St Kilda. Our confidence and flair has gone missing. Would love to know what's behind it.

Q-Simple question if Ratten was uncontracted would anyteam in the AFL other than us employ him?

A- ?

No. That's not to say he has doesn't have a future as an AFL coach tho...We make the finals and win one or two (which we can) and all of a sudden he is a genius! All about perspective.

Good move by Ratt's to get Walker out of the backline, and Carrots in the mid field and back. That was why our backline improved so much in the second half aswell

Spot on. Walker's confidence is down at the moment & he looked very shaky in the back half & was costing us goals. Might be an idea to keep him forward until he gets his confidence back.

His job still on the line until we win those games to make the 8 you would think nothing but a top 8 is acceptable.I'm easy with him as with Fevola we should have been a top 4 side without him batting a top 8 at least.

Stop venting your drivel on Ratten and WHs. Maybe a frustrated post here and there is ok when there is a decent run of bad games is acceptable.

The truth is the missed drafts have held us back, not Ratts/WH/Club. We dont have the list people think we have. You blame Ratts and WH non stop. If you run through his picks the 3 numbers ones were moral picks along with the Judd trade.

Rather than pot WHs so much, understand that in each of our years of high picks the KPPs werent there to be picked (case for Talia last year only). The lack of KPPs and structure (we lost Kennedy in the Judd trade) is the only thing holding back our side.

Quality big/hard KPPs give you: overall confidence, straighten you up down the middle, confidence to kick long and more accurately as pressure is released.

With a more reliable avenue to goal, Ratten then has more options to change it up. We are missing high quality KPPs. Waite (hardly on park and hardly hard/reliable), and a developing Hendo just dont cut it. Hendo will be fine but is carrying the world.

So STFU you ignoramus and understand the true reasons behind our club's weaknesses.

It's ok to moan about kicking accuracy, lack of structure, no hardness, and weak game plan based on structural defiencies. BUT, the current up and down form of Carlton is not WHs or Ratt's fault unless you are a moron!

As a poster you are in 30YB class but at the other end of the sprectrum. I'd prefer 10 of him to one of you!

According to some posters we are the worst team in the competition. At least we were when there was mass hysteria on this board during the first half of the game.

nah thats just insane.

weve already had 7 years as the bottom side.

were just bottom 4 right now... we might be abit better.. maybe a bottom 5 team....

"worst team in the competition " is abit thick.....

youre right!!!

It's very selective to argue for the sacking of a coach based on only part of that coach's coaching period, ie. the last 5 or 6 weeks (in any event, is the team's performance the coach's fault or the players, or both?)

You need to take Ratten's entire Carlton coaching record:

  • We were a "bad" last in 2007 when Ratt's took over.
  • In 2009 we played finals with a young side (probably the youngest finals' side that year). This team was a mix of high & low draft picks. Teams that usually win premierships are far more mature than the Carlton list
  • This year, it looks like we'll play finals again, after many wrote Carlton off pre-season because of the Fev trade. Many said we'd be the big loser of 2010. We've had good wins over the Saints & Cats, and some very ordinary performances to some lessor teams.
  • The decision to trade Fev was huge, basically the club had to "find" another 80 - 90 goals from somewhere else. To Ratten's credit, he's rejigged the forward line and in the least we see a foundation of a multi-dimensional forward line for years to come.
  • Ratt's has had the additions of maturing first round picks & Chris Judd to help him in his cause.

Perhaps Ratt's could show more as a match day strategist, perhaps a little more intensity, but given his overall record it's hardly the grounds to sack someone. What I like about Ratten is that he seeks advice and is willing to learn. He's contracted till the end of 2011, let's see how he's going then
