After initially being quite upset that we managed to lose a 42 point lead in the space of 20 minutes on Thursday, I gave myself some time to let it sink in and this thought entered my mind. We were 42 points up at one stage and controlled most of the game, against a side many tipped to be in the 8. Round one, I know and still along way to go. But bloody hell, we showed that we can play some quality football and match it it with some of the best which we showed last year as well. Constancy is what we have to work on, and that will come with age and maturity. Cotch is a natural born leader, he oozes class. He won't let us down. Riewoldt playing the team game and showing that we aren't just a one trick pony in 'Kick it to Riewoldt.' He takes the best defender allowing Vickery and our third tall to take the other defenders. The inclusion of Choco is going to work wonders with our youth. I cannot see us in the dark any longer. This is our year when we hear the Tiger roar, and the next 5-10 years will see us playing finals footy and bring home the cup at least 3 times

Watched the replay 3 times over the weekend (was also at the game). The more I watched it, the more I liked what I saw. Definitely quite a bit still to work on but we really only played 2 and a bit quarters of footy and won the match. If we can eradicate some small turnovers and unforced errors here and there as well as fix the goal kicking, we will see a massive difference (and that doesn't even consider some handy players yet to come into the team and most of our stars being anonymous in the last quarter).

Remember, Jack didn't kick a goal. Guys like Vlastuin, Petterd, Grimes and Foley are all arguably best 22 players and are yet to feature. The players were naturally a bit rusty being round 1 and fitness levels will still improve in the coming weeks as the players climatise to the higher intensity.

While we've won a big game and started the season on a positive note, its important for the players to stay grounded and focus on the next game. Remember it was last year and we had huge wins over St Kilda, Hawthorn and the Swans and were going into the Freo game (at the MCG) full of confidence expecting the win. Players still need to focus and make sure they do everything right - the best teams don't drop games they should win. The saints and Dogs game give us a great opportunity to play as the favourite and secure expected victories.

Watching the replay i was much too harsh on jack earlier, he genuinely did play a decoy team role, i knee jerked that he was given a hiding.....id also urge the jacko haters to have a close look he was very good late in the game, plenty of run and carry that deserted most others
