They have to field a senior side is the requirement I think. This exact same thing happened at federal in the last year. We put the call out in the media after having very low numbers. Started the season with just enough.

Come the middle of the year in the cold weather we were back to having low numbers and started having to forfeit games.
The moment was lost several years ago when mergers and an upper Murray United club were floated and rejected by Corryong and Cudgewa.
People in these decision making positions need to hold their heads in shame.

Good interview with the Tumba president in the bmm talking about how important footy and netball is for the community.
You’ve been in here a long time fruit. What’s the solution? No tdfl team is going to sacrifice their junior set up to come to the UMFL. In my opinion we can rule that out.

Everyone needs to swallow their pride and get together for the sake of the juniors. Most UM players travel from Albury Wodonga to play and that is also becoming less sustainable with the cost of living going up.
The league falling over either this year or very soon is inevitable.

what has he said in the interview?
Talked about how important football and netball was for the community. Spoke about people traveling to small towns and spending money at the store and at the pub etc. He also spoke very well about the significance of sport and its impact on Mental Health

I see the demons got 2 senior sides up, well done but not a long term solution. If they’re done by the end of the year and on the cusp of folding does the AFL Victoria send a combined Upper Murray and Bullioh to the tallangatta league and Tumba to Farrer? With a merger in place Feds players/volunteers (hopefully) would return to the local area. Thoughts?

Anyone have the article about the Corryong merger?
I did see something but scrolled past it without a second thought. Are Federals and Corryong looking at merging?

Bullioh has approached

Shayne Reid at Bullioh has approached Dave Nicholls at AFL North East Border already saying they must be allowed to the TDFL. They are reading the writing on the wall.
They don’t have the numbers, junior numbers.
TDFL clubs will reject their request once again.

I think this is the forgotten aspect of all the discussion. Bullioh attempted to get out just before Covid. They wanted out badly. So that leaves 4 clubs committed to the league. Feds go into recess and Corryong hang on hoping to collect most of Feds leftovers. As we know it didn’t happen..

Two viable clubs
One going like a busted arseh*le
One wants out.

Look at the facts.

Wouldn’t they be able to get some of the juniors currently at Cudgewa and Feds?

With the under 12 TDFL comp being formalised next year and the flow on from Corryong/Cudgy I think they’d be able to field 12’s and 14’s. It’s the 17’s that would be the struggle. If all clubs capped juniors at around 26 all clubs would be able to fill the junior grades.
