They will pack the Supreme Court and use it as a partisan weapon, and they will tear up the constitution and rewrite it. Their entire political system will change, immigrants will flood into the US and be able to vote immediately and there will only be one political party in power from now on. The Dems will never again be voted out.
You’re entitled to your opinion Maggie as am I. My concerns will unfortunately be realised in the future. My disappointment isn’t about Trump losing, it’s about the hard left political shift the US is about to make.

Always stunned how people believe Democrats are “socialists”.
They are even to the right of our own Labour Party here in OZ. And having the Labour Party here hasn’t been a bad thing, but you can hardly call them hard socialist.
The Democrats are what we would consider centralist in Australia.

Congress can pass a bill, then the President can sign the bill into law, that increases the number of SC seats. Senate not required so yes, Biden could “stack” the SC without murdering justices.
The Constitution is apparently very clear on this.

You asked how the SC can be stacked in the next four years. The constitution allows it.
The Senate will also be subject to a mid term election, if the Dems get a majority then it can be easily done.

Some history, FDR tried to enlarge the Supreme Court and pad it with favourable types.

He was the man responsible for the 'New Deal', arguably the most ambitious re-shaping of American political history, but his play for the Supreme Court raised a ruckus and effectively killed his domestic political agenda.

As any Cuban-American in Florida will attest, that firebrand upstart Joe Biden and his fellow revolutionaries are ready to paint the town red.

No you didn't offend, I was just taken aback by your previous reply to the stock market.

I like a bit of banter and don't tend to take things personally, sometimes words on a screen can be taken wrongly.

I have relatives and friends that live in America and they haven't done that well under Trump's presidency.

Two relatives (distance) died due to covid which was pretty distressing at the time.

You seem like a nice bloke, very polite, but the wildness of your views about what is happening (and what might happen) in the US is plainly irrational.

You haven't really been able to support your views with anything resembling evidence, which isn't surprising because there really is no evidence.

The mutual suspicion and hatred which defines US politics is a poison, and it doesn't do us any favours to mainline that s*** into our own view of things.

every party has its extremist element. The Republicans actually gave their extremist the top job.
Im more than comfortable that the Dems will not let that happen in their party.

If we got into it, it would be a lengthly debate with no winner I suspect.
Serious question - how long do you think it will be until Biden steps down and Kamala Harris is sworn in as President? Or do you believe he will serve 4 yrs?

There wouldn't be too many people who would voluntarily step off the mountain upon reaching that particular summit.

I have no reason to think that Biden would be keen to step aside for someone else. Health would have to force his hand.
