After the conclusion to the utterly frustrating 2006 H&A season, I was as sure night is black that I would not see the Geelong Football Club win a Premiership for a very long time. All the promise and hope from the two previous seasons, the absolute belting we received from the Crows and Magpies, boiled over to the point where, at the time of joining any number of online forums, Strangled Cat was to be used as a reference to the GFC being a bunch of chokers.

So, whilst my date of registering on these forums was sometime around mid/late 2009, some 3 odd years after first using my username, and it's relevance to it's original meaning all but gone, I was still compelled to use it. Why? Apart from the fact that the horse had bolted and the name was well and truly etched into (online) social folklore for me, the name is a constant reminder that when I ever have the feeling of hopelessness, I think back to the parallels of the 06 and the 07 seasons and remember that there is always hope and that things, whilst at the time can seem insurmountable, can change in an instant.

I never thought Geelong would win a flag after 1995. Shocking performance against the cheats.
Getting happier each year now
Will have to get a new username for sure, then knowing my timing, we'll probably start our slow slide downwards

My mates always called me "Kriso", such an aussie thing to add a "O" to someones name. Kriso was always taken for usernames so I decided to add the "182" due to being a big fan of this band;

Blink182

Mine is dedicated to blink-182 too (favourite band). I love all of their songs, but some of my favourites are Mutt (American Pie theme song) and Dumpweed, so I just combined them to make Muttweed.

I cop it a lot because of the 'weed' in my name, I must say, but o well.

ha ha yes it is. It's where we go to swear about Hawk supporters in privacy.

pm SJ he'll fix it

You have a specific liking for VW? Didn't know you could "especially" like VW. (apart from the Opel Manta VW GTI rivalry in the 80s.)(twerrible fashion and blonde bombshell haircutters included)

My name is morri, which is a shortened version of my all-round nick morrison. (Which I first chose about 8 or so years ago when I joined a music themed forum)

i can imagine her as a stevie baker specialist.

how is the team looking so far?

Nominations so far.

Shell. Veteran player, passionate, aggressive but forever loyal, never gives an inch. Straight into a back pocket! Think Milburn.

Ammo is HFF - Chapman.
Nuggety, delivers, doesn't back down.

Pure_Ownage. Profilic and a perfectionist. Putting him as rover. Loves the ball in his hands and doing something with it. One of the stars.

Partridge - Full back.
Always plays with the same attitude week in week out. Rarely lets anything through.

Veedubs - 2nd ruck. (bench).
Doesn't rack up big numbers due to his limited game time but always taps to advantage when he's on. (Suspected of asking to be traded to the Saints in recent years).

SJ - Centre
Often compared to J Kelly in that he is a quiet mover. But stands out on the stat sheet each week with defensive his work.

David the Cat - CHF.
Usually takes a lead up role, but quite comfortable in one on one contests deep forward if needed.

Vinum Coupe.
Coach.
In the mould of Bobby Davis. Doesn't take it too seriously but boy, can he deliver if he has to.

Ninty as waterboy

Wing - _me_
I figure someone is going to be needed to take out Ablett when required. _me_ fits the bill nicely.

Bench - LifeSpanVoid
_me_ is going to have to take a breather occasionally, LSV is the man.

Emergency - Randyzany
Just in case _me_ is out due to suspension (which is very likely)

NSFB, Teriyakicat, 10lana, Jon Douglas...etc, etc
Any feedback on reasons for your usernames?

Interesting thread, Vdubs :)

Teriyaki is was the name of one of my roosters - I was originally just going to be 'Teriyaki' but I wanted something in my name to be about cats. The name 'Teriyakicat' is inspired by the song 'Cat's in the Kettle' by Weird Al Yankovic.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but... this is one of the many parodies often credited to Weird Al that is not actually by him...

Ahhhh- not bad news at all, Sauron. Doesn't matter to me who wrote/sang it- it's a funny song and it makes me laugh.
Thanks for that info, though- I'll try not to credit WAY again with the song. :)
