He has played just under 3 quarters of senior football this season after serious injury last year. Not sure how he will show enough at senior level to warrant keeping his spot if he is not playing senior footy. He should be given at least a couple of games to find his feet and readjust to the speed of AFL Senior footy before passing judgement.

Why? He's done nothing to deserve a string of games and keeping him in the side will hurt our chances against Geelong and Port.

You could say the same about Arnot. Give him 5 games and see if he improves... but you can't just give every young kid games, you have to figure out when it's worth it.

I do believe our outs were fairly significant and am mindful that it is difficult to travel over there and return with a win, but after thinking about this loss a little bit, I came up with something which may be of concern in my opinion.
Now in no way shape of form am I calling for Damien Hardwicks head but I am of the belief that we get horribly out coached through periods of a game. I stress again, I am not calling for him to go but to simply fix this. We have the talent that can match any side when we are up and running but I still think we are out coached week in week out.

Fremantle Game
-One thing that stood out from Friday night was when Deledio copped the Crowley tag, a simple move would have been to have Deledio one out in the goal square, where you would back him any day to out mark Crowley. Lids may have touched it 5-10 times for the match but may have resulted in 4 or 5 goals and Crowley away from the contest.
- Our lack of defensive structure when the game is in the balance. Why did we not have numbers flooded back everywhere? Okay whilst it is not all on the coach and players need to adapt, the message should come out and create the last 90 seconds into a struggle.
- Again the struggle to contain a momentum shift...

Collingwood Game-
- To let Obrien and Sidebottom alternate their starting position every centre bounce where one would start at half forward and end up on the wing before the bounce and the other on the wing would float to half back before the bounce and become a loose player that ran all over the ground. They had a total of 41 disposals and 5 goals effectively playing across half back... loose! Now it was not until the last qtr 15 min in where we finally woke up and locked down, but how do you get horribly out coached for 3 and a half qtrs of a game of footy and expect to win?

- Obvious one... Chaplin recruited to go to the monster forwards yet Rance still lines up on Cloke.

Carlton Game-

- The inability to control the tempo of the game when 6 or more goals ahead.. Yes modern footy has those momentum shifts, but well coached sides find a way to block out that.

Now its only round 5 and i still believe we are a genuine finals chance and two losses is nothing to be overly upset about against good opponents, but just a little concerned with some of the coaching decisions made and us being out coached a lot of the time.

Ins and outs for me this week

Ins - King, Morris, Chaplin
Outs- Helbig, Nahas, Batchelor,

Think A Edwards will be close along with Foley maybe as a sub.

If I see 3 players signed to be purely backup/depth all in the side next week then I'm going to spew.

Although knights played well this game both he and pettard are fringe players who should not be getting games ahead of younger players(ellis) and others who have been at the club for years already(nahas). If you want another tall forward option try either Griffiths or Elton.

Knights wasn't hunted as a free agent just to be depth. The players in the pre-season draft (including petterd) were added for depth.

Couldnt be further from the truth.

First game against the Dogs, after finding his feet in the first quarter had an 8 in the 2nd and 5 in the 3rd, all up 15 disp, 5 marks, 2 tackles and a goal before blowing up and subbed.

Next game against the Pies had a cracker 10 disp first quarter and ended up with 20 and 5 marks and again running out of puff.

Last game against Freo he is obviously getting match fit and was arguably our best with 3 goals, 19 disp, 4 marks and 3 tackles 16 pressure acts, 1 assist and 6 score involvements.

No way is he a fringe player, and if he keeps this improvement up he will be back to his early Crows form and a dead cert for a top 10 in our B&F

Didn't think there was much in it TBH. Probably not worth much more than a reprimand I reckon.
I'm not sure about that, we can't have guys kicking out like that in the game. Deserves a rest.
I'm guessing you would call it a positive, Lyon said on 6pr tonight that he thought it was Freo's best shutdown defensive effort for the season against us, I take that as positive that we only lost by a point playing below our best for most of the match.

In Dimma's Disection it shows how Ivan should've got a free for illegal shepperd with one min to go in the Freo game when we were up by 5 but the umps missed it.

F U wa umps ya ****'*

No wonder he was fuming in his presser. That free would have won us the game.

Screwed out of the 4 points basically

In the end though it was our own fault because we had the chance to still beat Freo and the umps but we didn't with that last play where Ballantyne kicked the winner.

I'd like to think Freo's 5 odd goal win last night over the Pie's gives our performance of a fortnight ago some added perspective. I still fear it could be one we rue come the point end of the season, though. :(
