Just wondering of there is anybody out there interested in coaching a team in D1 in the amateur league. Does anybody know any names or leads?

Non playing is preferred, but if they are good enough to play, playing would be fine.

I think you may have misunderstood ben, we are looking for one senior coach and one reserve coach, not the same coach for both.

Anybody can apply. No senior experience neccesary.

Does anybody know anyone that may be interested?

It is Glen Eira Saints, and yes we have lost a few players but we have also picked up a handfull of good senior players. During the 2004 season we had 11 players 20 or younger play good footy in the ones. It may seem like a tough gig but not so hard when you take a look at the facilities that are available to work with,(best facilities in the ammos) and a great culture that we have at the club.

Yes we did have a poor season and got relegated, but it will be a good oppurtunity for a coach to come in and stamp his authority on a club that is extremely hungry to get back where we belong, C grade!!!

Ahem - Bully, you may have some of the best facilities in the Ammos, but you obviously haven't been to see what Scotch, Carey, Trinity, Marcellin or OMs have at their disposal. :D

Still, we all realise the predicament Glen Eira face, and being a suburban based amateur club, there's no guaranteed source of new recruits (i.e. juniors) coming through. If you have a couple of juniors clubs to hook into, that makes it a lot easier. Wish you all the best in your quest for a coach, and a successful 2005.

Your kidding me if you think Glen Eira has anywhere near the best facilities in the VAFA. The change rooms are tiny & the social rooms you can hardly see the ground if there were people standing outside infront of the windows!

It maybe new, but far, far from good facilities.

I'm pretty sure that you have only been into the visitors change rooms, which means that you really don't know jack about the facilities that we get to use. There are not many people that watch the games from the social room, or that stand in front of the window because there is a big tree in the way, which confirms my point that you don't know jack.
So I suppose that you play for an AFL club and enjoy some better facilities???
Not many places in C grade over the past couple of years that comes close to these facilities. CFE you are nowhere.

Mate I know for a fact that I do enjoy better facilities, so you can shove your "I don't know jack" straight up your rabble club's ar.se, if you don't fold between now & next season...

By the way, If you do have the best facilities, then why can't you view the game from the social rooms, why is there a tree in the way of the windows, why are the visitors change rooms so small??? If this were the so-called best facilities in the VAFA, which is isn't, why wern't any of these thing rectified???

As I thought, because you are a rabble...

The under 12s at springvale dont count buddy, what you fail to realise is that we are not a rabble maybe this year, yeh we have had a bad year. ******** happens, it happens to everty team, anouther thing you fail to realise is that we have a strong council, which means there is money coming into our venue they basically paid for everything to be done. and why should the change rooms be so big for our opposition we want to make it as hostile as it posibbly can be, remember they are the opposition why make it nice for pricks like you. even though they are very good change rooms remember we are playing football its all one little part of the so called home ground advantage.. everything is brand new not like the dirty card board boxes you are used to.
so get your sh$%t together. and for godsake its a tree. it is possible to be cut down.

Take it from an ammo person like myself (and with no links to Glen Eira), that any budding coach could do a hell of a lot worse than coach this club. District clubs offer so much more than School boys clubs in so many ways. Let it also be said that some of the greatest ammo players ever have played with this club. Those who saw Ralph Burgman (check spelling) at his best would agree that a better one grab forward would be hard to find (played against him in about 1991 when he kicked 18 goals...) and more recently Richard Gilmore, Matt Ryan and Nick Astapanco were brilliant players.

The reason I write this is because I was really p...ssed off to see the way a coward had taken a swipe a club. A crap effort from a badly informed pathetic bloke who I am sure would be battling to get a game at his old boy clubs "club 18" team. If you have nothing to pleasant to say about someone or something, please keep your mouth shut.

Good luck saints in finding a new coach?

After reading this post last week I thought I would take a drive to check out these facilities. I was impressed by the setup and the surface of the ground. I am considering applying for the coaching job in the ones or twos for next year and I have experience required. The side I coached this year made the finals. People should see how bad some sides have it before slagging off sides that are better off. I suspect a bit of jealously is playing its part here. :)

Haven't been to Packer Park since 1999 (and that A-Frame scoreboard!)

On the point about School teams as opposed to District teams, I would like to see how the point is debated too Funky.

Then again, I can only really comment on umpires facilities and the general feeling that umpires aren't given enough room, particularly when 6 umpires are appointed to some venues (need I mention MHSOB or Old Brighton here?)

There are few difference between the Old boy teams and the district clubs, I will name a few:
imo
a) The style of footy that is played:
The old boy clubs like to run and move the ball quick, a lot of support running of the back line.
The district clubs are a bit harder at the ball and the man with the ball, and tend to play more corridor style football, in tight and tough.

b) The funding
Old boy teams tend to get funding from the school and Old Boy associations, therfore enabling them to be more financially viable, therefore being able to spend more money on coaches and support staff.
District clubs have no such funding, therfore spending less on coaches and support staff.

c) Breeding ground
Old boy teams have the ideal breeding ground: good school footy players that want to continue playing for them in the future, therefore they are able to field Club 18 and 19's and have a big list to choose from.
District clubs rely on their junior club(if they have one) or approaching a junior club to get players to play for them, hoping that they will be able to field 19's and get maybe 5 or 6 players each year to step up to the plate and continue on with the club.

This is what makes the ammos such a great league, there are 50+ teams from all over Melbourne, with different styles.
