Bit annoying that I had written a very petty article all about the experience I've had over the past two and a bit years in the Thirds, both the good, the bad and the Xugly as they decide to finally adjust the rules and principles.

But also, kudos to HQ. I do wish they had have listened to those in divisional clubland earlier, but hey, what can you do?
Good article, such a pity you play for Kew.

Oh boy! I can't wait to listen to this podcast with the GM of Football about the challenges of re-fixturing to keep my mind off of the fact that there's less than 48 hours until Saturday and I've got no flipping idea where my 19s and clubbies are playing, and can't organise trainers, umpires, volunteers because we don't have a time and venue.

If only that PlayHQ system has some type of fixture builder which allows them to select teams, put in when they can and can't play at home, as well as any other exceptions. Oh wait...

3rds had no play times
Girls Div 3 now has a bye and only fixtured to R8 , mindboggling

Lol. Its darts at a dartboard stuff.

The no 1 responsibility of a league football administration is getting the fixturing right.

Relax boys and girls

It’s a tough gig.
We’re all in the same boat.
All 3rds should have a bye this week.

The 3rds comp should be as follows.
Except for Premier Thirds
14 games
Top 4 regardless of teams in the division.
Finals
1 play 4
2 play 3
Winners play off in Grand Final.
Makes 3rds a 16 week comp.
Finish in Mid August. Leaves plenty of grounds for finals.

If I was a betting man I'd say there will be
some more changes in the Thirds comp over coming weeks. Happened last year and there's still some head scratching moves/non-moves that have been made

Fev has been playing footy at East Sunbury, isn't there a rule that players who have played in a paid competition can't get approval to play in the VAFA in the same season? Selectively applying the rules again from the team at VAFA HQ.

We were only informed today that our 3rds will be at Kew at 4 45 , now an absolute joke trying to get trainers etc

So is it the home side that has the final say over what time?

just heard old yarra's womens sides in prem b/div 4 have their home games at 9.20am/2pm with 4 hours inbetween games because port melbourne chargers/oakleigh have called the vafa and told them they can't play at any other time... Thats a bit of a joke, if you are the away side make it work or forfeit I say.

Thirds divisions seem to have changed again with a few differences on Play HQ to those above. They’ve done the odd division in Div 4 instead of 5 with 3 teams having a bye this week!

But Xavier have been given the chance for 2 all Xavs grand finals with their 2nd thirds side moved into Premier.

Champ or Chump - was this similar to the Selwood situation?

Selwood different situation as he was already listed at Ivanhoe and requested clearance to play 1 off game in Tasmania and he was getting paid for one off game.
Issue was VAFA happy to clear him to Tasmania, but soon as he played Tasmania game, VAFA wouldnt clear him back as he was paid for one off! Is hypocritical by vafa as how much due diligence to they put in Prem A clubs with ex AFL players???

BluesAFL flouted this rule.
Let Fev play.

Whilst I 100% disagree with the Scott Selwood decision, Fev is playing 5th Division 3rds, and not a senior team. Let em play
Rules are rules? or maybe not on occasions? Anyway, it's in the past for our club now I would think and good to see Fev having a kick and bringing people to a local game. Hope it's a great day for all involved.

Sadly, the VAFA chucked us on at that time even though 4.45 would have meant we would have had to forfeit due to a 21st a fair few of our lads had in the country. Moved to 1.45 eventually - but was a bit of a frustrating process.

We get a Sunday game. Think we have 2/3 of our side as 19's with a few senior heads which is nice.
