I have never been so i cannot tell you from personal experience, but people have come back to the club saying that they stood no chance, because in the eyes of the tribunal board your guilty.

Even if the opposing player, who is the alleged victim, tells the board that nothing untoward happened or there was no striking involved, they will always stick to what the umpires report is. This is where the problem lies, because not all umpires see the actual incident occur.

They need to change the way they review all cases and not always look at it as black and white.

Yep, me twice. Plan of attack is when you go to face the old blokes upstairs at HQ:

If your guilty but think you can get off -

1. Be confiedent in your evidence (rehearse what you're going to say prior to)

2. Find a loop hole to get you off. "The sun was in my eyes" may work

3. Find a decrepancy between the umpire & other player's account of events. ie: -position of alleged incident on field,
-how far the umpire was away from the incident
-direction the ball or player was travelling

4 Tell them the contact was only minor.

5. Keep repeating steps 3 & 4 until the old blokes believe that you must be telling the truth.

Not water tight but has got me off 2 out of 4 times

Yes people do get off.

I think it was just last year towards the end of the season that one or two A grade players got off as finals loomed.

We had someone go up last night that was found not guilty. They dont put the not guilty ones on the web.

It all goes on the umpires evidence. Someone has said to me before that they see you as guilty and that you have to prove your innocence. If you think of it this way and prepare accordingly then you often have a better chance.

But writely or wrongly they do take the umpires view strongly.

Agree with everything Sniper said and if you lucky enough like I was, your case is the next one after a Sth Melbourne madman had his case and was found guilty. Then he proceeded to throw chairs, smash photo's on the wall, break doors, then attempt to throw a steel bin through the glass windows at the front of the building.... I think the old boys were a bit rattled after that, I could have murdered someone on the field and got off that night!!

Haha, I remember that in 2006? They still gave him a premiership medallion though, even though the VAFA said he was no longer welcome at any game. Go figure.

Yup that was it, it was in the Herald Sun.... Funny stuff. I even had the guy put me right in the s..t, he didnt hold back at all.....still got off!!!!

That guy has a court hearing next week for his actions in 2007 at a SMD game with one of our guys who was waterboy. Lets see if he gives the courts the same treatment.

Was a few years back we had a guy go up for tripping, i think pleaded guilty and didnt get any weeks. Put the case together that he did it, but it was a unintentional relfex action and contact was minimal.

That guy has a court hearing next week for his actions in 2007 at a SMD game with one of our guys who was waterboy. Lets see if he gives the courts the same treatment.

I am 4 from 4! 4 times reported, 4 times cleared. Having said that a couple of times i was reported by the great AD and he did everything in his power to get me off (obviously believed the 15 minutes was enough punishment)

Correct. He was standing next to a car abusing everyone and took it out on the waterboy.

1999 D grade GF v Ajax was one such time. Anthony Damon booked the both of us. His evidence and the fact that the Ajax blokes where still hammered from 3 days on P155 certainly helped us because the video evidence was rather compelling.... thank god it was not called apon!!!
