I think you'll agree with me that the VAFA needs an Under 17 comp desperately so it will provide an opportunity for guys to be drafted in comps like the VAFA other than the TAC Cup or VFL level. The last VAFA player of note to be drafted by an AFL club was Dean Matthews of Bulleen Templestowe who was selected by St Kilda in 1995. Since then, over 90% (and I'm not sure of the actual figure, only a rough guess) of players drafted here in Victoria to an AFL comes from the TAC Cup or VFL-yet none from the VAFA. Has the AFL clubs (and I've said this before) realised there might be a James Hird, Nathan Buckley running around in the best football comp in Australia-the VAFA?
