The legend, the tonsils, the wit.

Just saw on The Age that he's passed today. Too early for long-form reply... but the man who coined the phrase 'Snuck up on him like a librarian' is permanently etched in my brain as the voice of our 2010 campaign.

Love to his family. Would love to hear everyone's favourite Dennis-ism.

Such a big loss - was a real Pro. Favourite Dennis-ism: When calling Peter Street (Western Bullgods ruck) as he athletically spun around and kicked a goal: like a dancer disguised as a tree

The last great commentator, such a loss. Thoughts go to his family and friends.
He was all about the game, no biases, great sense of timing and good humour.

How he put up with all the idiots he was forced to work with, is beyond me.

When Dennis commentated, you knew what was happening. No hype, just his words.

RIP Dennis Cometti, an absolute legend! Footy was never as good to watch after he retired. Loved his 'Dawesome' commentary in the 2010 grand final replay.

You just beat me to this! it obviously gets forgotten because of the Heath Shaw smother, but definitley love this bit of commentary. Even better that it was in a Grand Final.

Knowledgeable, witty, devoid of excess ego, with an unmatched ability to capture big moments without trying to be louder or bigger than the moment itself.

Came across as a genuine and good person.

Now he's a cork bobbing around the cosmic oceans and I wish him well in his journey.

He was the great commentator easily the best in AFL history and as good as anyone in VFL history comfortably. He never badmouth anybody but he had a great turn of phrase never nasty but always funny when he wanted to be and always off the cuff. He was a very good interviewer also across a wide range of sports, knew his stuff did Dennis.
