My favourite Dennis-ism was in regards to Westhoff - that he was so skinny the Club could fax him to away games.

I heard Dennis call Test cricket and shield cricket for the ABC in the mid and late 70's before I heard him call football. He was excellent at that as well. I heard him call a couple of SA v WA state games of footy on the ABC before he moved to 7 in 1986.

7 lost the TV rights in 1987, so it wasn't until 1988 he went national when they got them back.
