Vale Glenn Fry. Ever summer I am reminded of him and his song The heat is on. Then there are others he wrote that you hear all the time. That hard living in the 1970's seems to be catching up with rock/pop stars.

Yesterday I read of Bowie's generosity liking the band Mott the Hoople and wanted them to survive so he wrote and produced their hit All the Young Dudes. I was checking my twitter feed this morning. I saw that their drummer Dale Griffin also 67 passed away overnight.

Seems like the hard living of people born in the late 1940s after the end of WWII is coming back to bite them hard, the last few months.

Frey's Eagles band mate Don Henley unloaded on an interviewer when he was asked probably for the kazillionth time about wine not being a spirit.

Predictably, Henley was not amused. And instead of shrugging off the question with a comment about poetic license, he unleashed a little Yngwie-style fury, telling Soeder that he was “not the first to completely misinterpret the lyric and miss the metaphor” and continuing, “But that line in the song has little or nothing to do with alcoholic beverages. It’s a sociopolitical statement. My only regret would be having to explain it in detail to you, which would defeat the purpose of using literary devices in songwriting and lower the discussion to some silly and irrelevant argument about chemical processes.”
