Just read today that the great man, Merv McIntosh, passed away yesterday. Condolences to his family.

I remember having a chat with him one day and he was telling me how he had bluffed the Perth Footy Club into paying him the astronomical sum of 10 pounds, or something like that, to play for them. This was then used by Merv to purchase a block of land he had his eye on. He felt rather sheepish about doing this to the club, because he was "never going to go anywhere else" he said with a wry grin. He was a great gentleman.

Yes an absolute legend of the WAFL.

I was sadened to hear of his passing .

Fair, tough and very talented big Merv had it all.

He was respected by all as a true champion.

The legacy he leaves and the contribution he made to our fine game of Australian Rules was something special and very much appreciated by the many football purists.
