I am devastated by this news. When Rod came to SA to coach the Redbacks, his two lads Dan and Jamie played at my cricket club, Sturt. I got to know the family quite well, they are a lovely family, quality people. My thoughts are with them at this time. Fingers crossed for some happier news soon.

My first series I followed as a kid was the 70-71 Ashes, when Rod made his debut (along with other legends Greg Chappell and Dennis Lillee). So I remember the Iron Gloves thing very well, and I witnessed Rod's entire career.

RIP, such sad news that he has passed.

Fond memories of reading this book as a kid, and I can still remember the day he retired from international cricket. I guess I was lucky to have caught the tail end of the Chappell/Lillee/Marsh era, they really were towering figures.
