its just like growing up he was the guy. it was warnie. you liked the others, but growing up on late 90's early 2000's australian cricket, he was the man. no one looked like him, no one bowled like him, no one was him.

fu** man.
It’s Kobe levels of what the f*ck have I just read. Link sent to a chat and I sat there in stunned silence for a good 10 minutes. Half the country aren’t even aware yet, tomorrow is going to hit hard

Yea, that's what I felt, complete disbelief. Closest i've felt like this about a sporting star or someone famous is when Kobe passed away and when Steve Irwin passed away when I was a kid. Just utter shock.

It's such a reminder that death comes for everyone, doesn't matter if you're a GOAT or a random, it comes for us all.

RIP Shane. Thank you for your contributions to Cricket for Australia & the world.

I was just heading off to bed when I decided to check the news and saw this particular punch to the gut. I'm feeling legitimately shook right now

RIP Shane, you helped an enormous amount of young kids become interested in cricket, myself included. Your contribution to Australian cricket is legendary and will be remembered for as long as cricket is played in this country.

The greatest spin bowler I've ever seen, test cricket got a lot more boring without him.

He was also my Saints brother from another mother with the way he complained about the shit umpiring we've copped.

Don't worry Warnie I'll complain twice as hard about the shit umpiring we cop for both of us, peace out brother.

That will ****ing do me

Just watched SHANE last night too

During that 3 year patch he had, he was only cricketer i've ever seen who looked like he could get a peg EVERY ball he bowled.

That spell in the 99 WC semi sticks out, especially his reactions.
But to me the 2005 Ashes is his finest moment.

Enjoy the net sessions king

Just a month ago I was watching an old ODI from the late 1990s on a tour of the West Indies. Packed crowd and exciting run chase. The scoreboard had an error showing the 49th over as the 50th and final over. There was a pitch invasion when the last ball of the 49th was bowled because the crowd thought the West Indies had won. After a few minutes of stewards and police managing the crowd back to the stands the two batsmen, Steve Waugh and Shane Warne, had one last over to get the required runs. They fell just short and there was another pitch invasion. Knowing the bitterness between those two afterwards I remember thinking hopefully they will put their differences aside and appreciate the greatness both achieved as individuals and as a team rather than continue have it drag on and drag other players into Team Warne vs Team Waugh.

Life is too short and this news is a glaring reminder.

**** this has hit me. I first saw a Joe Ingles tweet and thought he had got confused with Marsh also passing earlier but then I scrolled down to find a lot of English supporting Arsenal fans that I follow tweeting their love for him.

I know he pissed a lot of people off with his commentating and at times it was hard to listen to but when it comes to a cricketing mind I haven't come across and doubt I ever will come across someone with as much knowledge and intelligence as him. The video below illustrates his genius and its somewhat of a shame that we didn't get the access to players on the field when he was playing as we do today as their would be many more videos just like it.

Also even as someone who hasn't played cricket since I was 11 (now 25) I still to this day walk around the kitchen rolling the arm over like Im Shane Warne.

These guys just always seem immortal. Especially at the ages they were. Sporting legends passing is always sad, Rod Marsh for example, but in those instances you’re half expecting it at that age. Losing blokes way before their time and guys that were THE guy of their generation is just a massive punch to the gut.

Everyone knew who Warnie was, even those who didn't follow cricket in the slightest. He was an icon, he was THE guy. Someone who could do the seemingly impossible with the ball in hand.

In absolute shock about this, and caps off an awful day, not just for Australian cricket, but for cricket in general.

R.I.P Spin King, I'll have a tin of baked beans in your honour for breakfast.

Yea mate, 100% agree. I think what makes it even more shocking is that he still has a large public profile due to his commentary and media presence. He still had relevance to all cricket and sports fans today. Whenever I thought summer of cricket, I thought Warnie.

I was just reading that banner headline on line and I thought, no way. Shane Warne dead @ 52!

You sit there and think, this cannot be right?

What a cruel joke and then you realise it's for real. I'm in shock. Just terrible.

The world has lot a good one today, and yesterday as well.

Got to meet Shane through work. Just a knock about bloke enjoying life.

Rest in Peace.

**** this one hurts absolute legend and hero of my childhood seriously the year was spent pretending I was Warne or Richo depending on the month

Rip to the goat what a life and what a career condolences to his family and friends
