Watched the VFL match on the weekend and Valenti was unbelievable. I lost count of the amount of possessions he had in the 1st half. Didnt catch all the 2nd half but he is exciting, and i know he has now being promoted.

Considering the dee's are a horrible horrible team....they surely will have to reward form in the reserves. Buckley was also in good nick but made a lot of mistakes. I thought Buckley would have cemented his spot but was dropped (i cant understand why to be honest, i thought he gave an honest effort despite the errors)

Considering the amount of passengers in the dee's lineup...i am strongly hoping valenti comes in this week.....that and i need a rookie to play desperately to make some money.

Cmon dee's do it for your sake and my sake.

Deadset if they do not bring in Valenti this week after yet another dismal performance....they have no clue. You have to reward players who are giving their all, especially when the senior side is getting belted.

how long is grimes out for???? If Valenti can get a game, i think he'll offer more to the side than Austin simply because they probably need to strengthen up their midfield. Woona has impressed, but hasnt been dominant. He sort of kicks a few goals and does little else.

I also have Woona in my team. Wouldnt mind seeing another injury...nothing too career threatening like a knee reco....perhaps a retirement even.

how geelong has given 4 rookies a go but melbourne so few is beyond me. Thought they were rebuilding?

When you've got a side packed with super stars, it's easier to blood some younguns, especially with key injuries in Ottens & Egan.

Do you really expect Bailey to have started picking rookies from the start of the year when he's just started coaching. They've had no injuries to key players except Neitz.

It's quite simple to understand how Geelong have & Melb havent

Where did you hear that he'd been promoted?

I'm yet to hear anything official in regards to that.

yeah same, i hope its true though. need him to make an impression in the team ASAP so i know hes going to stay all season. just hope he can replicate atleast 60% of his VFL form. should be good enough for the demons at this point...

Haven't heard anything official on Valenti either.

I don't think Grimes will be back for a while though surely he'll play in the ressies for a few weeks to get some form.

i think the thing with bailey is, the fact he is a first year coach and isnt all too interested in the long term future of melbourne.
i am suspecting he is more interested about his integrity as a coach at the top then the welfare of the melbourne football club over the next 10years.
he might prefer to lose games by 30points and play these slightly better older players then losing by 45points and playing the kids (whilst ensuring some chance of success in 4,5years time)
im hoping this isnt the case because the state melbourne are in at the moment it could lead to very large problems for them down the track

Rumour has it that they are delaying Neitz replacement until someone is actual ready to play, they are broke and as soon as someone is promoted they have to pay them more. Take it as a rumour, but could be something in it, maybe :D

lol are you being serious? yze, ben holland being out of the side? the mere fact we delisted the maximum amount of players year in order to bring in some kids. you obviously have NFI

Reason why Valenti hasn't been promoted yet is that Grimes isn't that far off from all reports. Thus when he gets taken of the long term injury list Austin Wonnemari will take Neitz spot.

i am being deadly serious

melbournes departures from last year bizzell, brown, pickett retired, johnstone traded, ferguson godfrey neville and ward delisted, other then johnstone and possbily brown, not one of those players would be half close to a game, just because a team cuts heaps of players (justifiably so) doesnt mean they are rebuilding.

and i dont think ben holland and adem yze are any good at all
yze at best is serviceable to a bottom placed club and holland would be the worst selection into any afl team these days. they should be playing as many kids as possible each game, to be honest, they arent going to win a match anyway, might as well get some long term stability into the club. guys like robertson and neitz are way past their best and someone like davey and miller arent worth a spot in the 22 with what they are giving at the moment, why not play a kid who could give you just as much? because the kids could get belted by even more, and bailey is trying to do his best and get the very best result this year

I think you underrate Adem Yze in his prime.

It seems forgetting about a 9th forward for the rest of the year may happen for some coaches. If Valenti isn't upgraded and Morton doesn't get a game, I think it may be a smart option to downgrade to Valenti and hope, rather than paying the extra 60 or 70k for a chad jones, chris mayne type player who may turn out to be shit cash cows anyway. With Hill/Vince clearly peaked, if the 9th forward doesn't turn out to play the gun midfielder that you upgraded morton/dyson to may be worth the lack of backup on your bench.

That is a very risky play after Rd 6. I'd do it ~Rd 14-15, but that leaves you no scope for injuries. And forwards inevitably get injured (except Pav...).

Darcy Daniher is apparently close to playing this week. Veszpremi should eventually get a go. Not everything hinges on Valenti.

I watched the VFL to, VALENTI owned that match.

Valenti racked up:
28 disposals
3 goals
5 tackles

He's really good at reading the play and knowing where the ball is going to go.

Hopefully he gets a game this week, and i will trade Josh Hill who is most likely going to drop in price this week, Hill has been a great cash cow and now i need another. Valenti is a gun!
