Just a quickie people, how did Valenti go in his first game? Didn't get to watch much of it but did see him show some composure on our half-forward line (2nd Q?) and drill a nice pass to Wona. Did he look up to AFL standard?

He looked ok but the real story was Morton, top game for a first year player.

I agree re: Morton.

Valenti needs 3 or 4 games, much like Aussie, to settle in. Tough game first up in Adelaide, hopefully he gets another crack next week at the MCG.

He showed a lot of promise, and I liked the way he went about playing his footy.
Does need 3-5 games to get some experience into the kid but will be a very good player for years to come.

How about that tackle he put on. I can't remember who it was on but it massive he absolutely smashed that guy. Sorry its a bit off topic but did they end up elevating someone for Neitz???

My understanding is that Valenti was promoted for Neitz.
Would be a shame to see Valenti leave the senior list when Grimes comes back, given how well he played for his debut, but surely you would keep him there ahead of Wona.
Is there any way he can stay up? Any other players to go before him?

Hopefully Yze can do the "team" thing... and retire.

Valenti was good, didnt have a heap of it but some of the things he did were very good for a first gamer. Didnt look out of place, looked strong enough and goes hard with real intensity. He will build on that and hopefully play out the rest of the year.

I was real excited early with Morton, Valenti, Aussie, and garland all showing a bit.

i am a bit concerned about frawley, hope he doesnt turn out to be the next luke livingston.

frawley would have to be one of the slowest operators in the afl... him and raf clarke from the Saints... Frawley isnt bad, but coming out of the back line, you would kind of want someone who moves it on a bit quicker, not someone who looks like hes glued to the spot and gets pinged for holding the ball... and on valenti he'll be good, tough ask to produce much against adelaide

Yze or anyone else retiring wouldn't help Valenti, they would have to go onto the long term injury list for Grimes to replace them.

I heard last night that Aussie will be permanently on the senior list as a result of Neitz retiring which means that Valenti will go back to the rookie list when Grimes comes off the long term injury list
