This game is just unbelievably good, and criminally underrated.
Well, actually no that's not the right term. It's not underrated, because it's one of the best reviewed games around. It's little-known though, which is very surprising.

Anyway, my point is that this game is awesome. Beautiful graphics, great story, and fantastic and original gameplay.

Here's the trailer;

The demo is up on the PSN, so check it out for yourselves. But trust me when I say it is simply fantastic, and deserves more attention.

Played a bit of it the other day and thought it was absolutely fantastic.

Personally, I'm not sure whether it's worth buying a PS3 for it though, given that the console has **** all JRPGs at the moment and very few in the future (most seem to be sticking with the PS2 or moving onto the Wii). Might wait at least until White Knight Chronicles, Demon's Souls and Final Fantasy XIII get a release date here...

I love the batman esque sound effects, Ratta ratta tat etc.

Reminds me of that shooter XIII

Heaps of JRPGs on 360

Well, more then the PS3 at least. That said, the only ones that particularly interest me are Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata (non-exclusive), Lost Odyssey and the new Star Ocean.

And aside from FFXIII (which is still ages away), I don't know of any more in the near future (compared to the 10 or so Wii releases to come)...

Last Remnant, Blue Dragon, PSU, Enchanted Arms etc.

Wasn't saying it's the JRPG console of choice, but there are quite a few

Oh there are a whole bunch of them, but few of them interest me (apart from PSU, which I already have on PS2). The 360 also released a bunch of Atlus JRPGs that got some pretty poor/bad reviews from what I view as trusted sources. Obviously their best stuff is still going to the PS2 (Persona 4, Devil Summoner 2, Eternal Poison etc.) and the DS at the moment.

I'm tempted to buy a copy even though I won't own a PS3 for awhile....

I'm pretty sure that it'll be hard to find in years to come due to its low shipment numbers.

seeing that Sega reported a pretty big loss and are cutting games and staff...... hopefully they see the light and port it to the X360.

Do it

I get 1 copy of the game shipped to me at a time and it generally sells within 2-3 hours of me having it in stock. Being rare, you might end up paying more in the future.....

Definitely a rare game. So glad I finally found a copy locally.

Have been playing more and more today, and can quite comfortably call it the best game i've played on the PS3 so far.

And with SFIV coming out soon, this is a great time for me :D

Wouldn't that suggest you should be getting more copies in???

I would agree totally..... My stock gets allocated to me, i don't order it in....

It suggests that our buyers probably can't get too many copies, and they have to be split amongst stores to be fair for all.

Oh ok, seems a bit stupid, what if you have one game that sells like hotcakes and another that sells awfully, but you keep getting more in for the one that sells poorly?

Surely you could make a suggestion to someone?

?

What would i know, i only work in the store... Surely the guys in HO who have never worked in a store before know what they are doing... oh wait....

Suggestions like this fall on deaf ears, while we receive 1 copy of Valkyria every few days, i get shipped 200 copies of Imagine my best friendz wedding singerz pet dogz horse and me :D

which then clogs up my shelves in my back room

Yeah, finding some games in Perth is a pain, I have just given up looking for affordable games (The ones that have been out for 6 months, yet no price cut, even the sport ones) and turn to ebay.

One of my mates from WA is the same, he basically just buys on eBay nowadays, otherwise he has to pay $120 at EB.

Yea, unfortunately you have a choice of waiting two weeks for a $30 discount or get the game immediately from EB, eventually you'll buy from EB.

It's hard to find a proper store for gamers, most EB games stores just seem like a store you go to buy cheap gifts for gamers or something. The second hand games are dreadful, wide selection of games (only missing a few rare ones) however at incredibly inflated prices.

Back on the topic, I hired out Valkyria Chronicles and I feel like it could be a good foundation game for them to make a series out of it. I wasn't blown away by it either, I enjoyed the challenge but that's about it. This game won't be everyone's cup of tea, but this is better than all the other tactic games out there for sure. Also if your a Sega fan, you would probably enjoy this game as well.

Just bought this yesterday, so far very impressed - possibly my favourite game of the current gen.

Graphically its just amazing art direction and style. Awesome soundtrack too.

Looking forward to getting addicted to this.

On the subuject of RPG's on current-gen, I've been less than impressed with both 360 and PS3. Lost Odyssey was a massive load of shite.

So far the only two RPG's I've enjoyed this gen, are Folklore and Fable 2, both for different reasons. Fable 2 gave aweseom freedom and had a fun western-style combat system, but its almost an action-adventure game more than an RPG and the ending really stuffed the game up.

folklore was just pure brilliant storytelling and an amazingly imaginative art direction.

After playing barely hours of Valkyria, I can comfortably say it trumps both (but not really an RPG as much as Folklore is).

p.s. I got the only copy at Nunawading JB HiFi for $97. I agree its going to end up a collectors item.

I haven't seen this in any stores. I might have to look harder and eBay it in a few years. ;)
