How many times did he run the ball out of defense or act as the link up man? Bit of a surprise from Bomber. He played well I reckon.

You guys must be joking!

Had about 10 tackles, his kicking down ground to a lead is flawless, that goal was awesome, he creates space for big forwards and other runners

Can't believe people still don't rate him

I would not be suprised if he develops into a run with player on a Sam Mitchell or Luke Hodge. He has the speed to keep up with the best mid fielders in the comp and he has the defensive skills to put pressure on his opponent.

Bomber may have a suprise up his sleeve in the next 3 weeks.

THE GOVERNOR

I thought that he was great Today. Really good defensive pressure and has earnt his spot in the Prelim. Well done Travis.:):):)

Seemed to me he got to more contests today than usual, as in he was on the screen a fair bit. The handpass receive & goal just makes you think 'why not do than 3 times a game'. He could be running free in the car park and Moons would find him with a pass.

Geez some people are easily pleased. Goal was nice but Mooney did most of the work for him. Laid a few tackles but was also brushed aside a few times. 8 possessions on a day when the Cats dominated and Trav got extra opportunities due to injuries to Prismall and Chappy is not good enough in my book. Only thing that may save him is the injuries but even then I'd be giving Gamble and maybe even Byrnes (yes, I know...) a game ahead of him.

Still doesn't like the hard stuff much but I thought he was great today. You can him edging towards the midfield, has got the skills and the pace. Full credit to him also being the only one in the team after 3/4 time prepared to do some gut running to create space - should retain his spot on that alone.

Thought he was excellent today. Proved he was the only choice for the small forward spot. Excellent skills and great pressure. Should be in the side every week.

He was pretty good today. Love that tackling pressure. He's on track for his first Grand Final.

Won't leave the side.

I looked up at scoreboard and couldn't beleive he'd only had 5 possessions at one stage. He was doing so much around the contests and as per usual, it makes the backs release the ball too quick

 Gee, we don't have to do much to make the team now!

I reckon the rest of the team were disgraceful today - Bartel and Ablett just stood still all day and waited for the ball to be kicked to them. No wonder they got 30+ possession while Varcoe caused the statistician to run out of ink with his 8...

Don't get me wrong, I think Travis did some good things today and his pressure is great, but for me he's got to do more than that. I just don't see where the rave reviews are coming from

i'm sorry but i'm yet to see any evidence of skill so far in his game.

I completely agree with you. 7 tackles is great but only 8 possessions when the side has 420 in total is not good enough. I don't know how people can say he was great. Sure, if you're only looking at one facet of his game (tackling) he was one of the best but there is more to footy than just tackling and everything else is below par.

In today's modern game a tackle is easily equal to 3-4 possessions. Trav is one of the best in the caper at this.

I can't understand why people mark him so harshly. 22 blokes can't get 30+ possessions. some players ie Rooke are there to play a role for the team.

It's simple really - he's a talented but 'lazy' footballer. Missed out on last year's finals for not doing enough, had his chance Sunday and did some nice things but needs to lift 100% if he's going to be a factor in upcoming finals. With possible Kelly and Chapman losses we can't afford any passengers in the next game(s).

How you can definitively equate tackles into a possession count is beyond me. That's probably why you think we're judging him harshly. I don't see the relation except if he manages to cause a stoppage or get a free kick. In that case he may stop the opposition from getting a few extra possession but it's purely on a tackle per tackle basis. The Varcoe supporters are content with only his tackling. Forgive me if I think that you should have more to your game than that.

The only question I really want you to answer is; how many of the 22 do you want to see with less than 10 possessions?

I think he is getting there but has a way to go. He is very skilled but to me still spectates way too much. I don't think you can really appreciate it unless you see the game live.

His tackling is great and his footskills are excellent, he has just got to think on his feet a bit more and occasionally go in there and get it instead of waiting for it to be delivered to him.

I am confident he will get there though and when he does he will be an excellent and dangerous footballer.
