So you must've heard he said "oh then you're in that camp then", what I'm saying is, that Balme was central in the demise of Chappy at Geelong.
If he plays FP for Richmond or the like, it'll come back to bite us mark my words. They moved a year to early imo.

I've got no doubt that he, Wells, and Scott were central to Chappy's demise.
And I do reckon he could have played another year.

But these guys are paid to make these calls. It's not going to bite us at all unless it causes rumblings amongst the playing group.

I know J Hunt has caused a bit of a stir. He said after the prelim that he was completely pissed off with how he has been treated by being left in the VFL all year and then subbed in the prelim. And that he is "getting out of there"

I said to my mate that heard this from him "lol, he's getting delisted anyway, you watch"

So in my opinion this is the biggest hurdle. i.e. getting players to accept pay below market rates, and then being told when it is time to go.
We all knew Chappy wouldn't walk.

To be honest, I thought Geelong supporters would be more pissed off that Chappy didn't agree to a reduced role where he could also help the VFL players develop. That's what I'd call a team man, and it's what I thought Chappy was.

I was wrong.

You might be right about Chapman, but you are sure as shit wrong about Balmey. He is no dummy. Us Norwood supporters love the guy. Balme was a massive get from Collingwood.

He was a ****ing liability during the prelim the only reason we came within a bull's roar of the Hawks was because he was subbed for Caddy.

OK! not a great decision since teams are lining up for his services and we now don't know who'll kick our goals in 2014.
Premature by our brains I'd say, but we all have our opinion!
And remember they've cut Pods a 33goal player this year.

Oh, so having an unpopular opinion qualifies as a crush on someone does it?

Get off it, booby.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks. :p

If you're gonna have a crush join me in crushing hard on Taylor Adams!

It depends on how things look at the end of the trade period. On how many guys get delisted or retire and who we get in trade week and in the ND. Then we will know all the outcomes related to the Chappy move on.

I still think he was moved on a year early but then again I am in no position to know what Chappy wanted re games and money and what GFC could afford.

Losing Corey, Pods and JHunt was probably enough for me and actually losing Pods surprised me. But of all these players Chappy seemed to offer the most for the team next season.

I was hoping they would not place a senior game limit on him as he is goal kicker and could have made a difference to us winning and losing games. But as for money if he wanted fairly big money well that was probably never on the cards to happen.

So I will reserve complete judgement on the matter until all the details that become available come my way. But all the details may never come my way.

If I understand the rules I just hope they note we offered Chappy a contract (and I think if I am correct they should have offered a similar deal to Pods and JHunt) so we get some compo picks if JHunt, Pods and Chappy get picked up.

Maybe we would not get a great deal but possibly some round 2 picks -30-40 range that might be better than our round pick. But not sure if this correct. Possibly someone out there will know and correct me.

Balme said yesterday they dont expect any compensation and they wont be asking for any.

So what does that mean - we get some compo for Chappy or not ?

From what Balme was quoted here it sounds like No.

It would be nice to get say pick 30 for Chappy but it does not sound like that could happen.

But yet did Melb. get anything for Rivers ?

There is no way we'd get anywhere near 30 for him anyway.

And the way Balme spoke, they dont care. He pretty much said that when it came to the Vets they'd never try and get a deal done or anything. They just want to help them move if that's what they want.

The reality is that at this point in his career Varcoe is worth much more to us than anyone else.

To other teams, he's a talented player coming off two seasons wrecked by injury.

To us he's one of very few players in the 100-200 game bracket, the age bracket we lack talent in and one of our most damaging players when on song.

Unless there are serious concerns about his injuries or off field attitude/behaviour, I'd be keeping him unless we got an exceptional offer.

Full on!

yeah has to be a good deal
we all know trav can play
he has few years left, just a matter of getting his skill level up again
so if a deal is done wont be surprised to see Essendon involved and we get one of theirs
