Down late, take a risk!
Call a number count out of no where!
I'd rather you take the risk to win 113-0 and f*** it up leading to 113-136 than taking no chance at all to win.

No guts, no glory. If your captain has no guts, strip him of it

They need to make Sloane captain as quickly as possible.

At his best Van Berlo is vanilla, at his worst he is barely AFL quality. At the moment we can't even hold him accountable for his shitty form. He needs a giant kick up the ass and maybe having less responsibility might actually help him become a better footballer.

Griffen wasn't a massive impact but its getting beyond the point. He cant hit a target or make a good decision to save himself. Sloane for captain 2014.

VB needs to go as captain. Once he's stepped down as captain, I'd give him next year to prove that he can be an AFL standard player. If he can't, then he must be moved on. The AFC must make players accountable for their own performances, and meritocracy cannot be tolerated, let alone get game time. As long as he is our captain, we are a laughing stock.

All year I've been thinking Danger for captain, but now I can't go past Sloane. Sloaney's heart bleeds red, yellow and blue. A true hero of the club.

VB < > Brodie Smith

Reverse their roles

Smith gets it and uses the ball well = midfielder
VB doesn't get it much and is defensive minded = Defender

It's not that hard! Surely!

The awkward moment when you make a TIC thread about not calling an unfounded number count, turns into a player bash o_O

To add to the playing leadership structure, we could keep Callinan on the list to play ~10 games and be another forward line coach (ala Brogans role at GWS).

Rutten, though he would play more games, would fulfil the playing defensive coach duties.

Can't think of a midfielder who could perform that role. Maybe Thompson but doesn't seem too astute.

I thought his best patch of the season was around the WC game, when he was being really physical, and making his opponents at the very least earn the ball, but that physicality seems to have just dropped off again in the last couple of weeks. He needs to be more of a w***er on the field, like Crowley, and his value will rocket.

Agree with this and others have been saying it all year.

Something needs to be done about Van Berlo. Try him in a new position, strip the captaincy from him, whatever it takes. Just do something.

I know VB is a monster on the training track but his leadership on the field is non-existent. He can't even hold his own opponent. How can we expect him to inspire others to do so?

I think this game was the least of those you could accuse him of not doing his job. He kept his man Griffen to 26 touches with negligible impact on the game, after being best afield with 36 and 41 in the previous weeks. It was Cross, Cooney and Liberatore who tore us up.
