Wow really? What has he shown for you to believe that...

He is a genuinely tough ball winning midfielder with class, poise and game smarts. Not overly quick, not outside, but genuinely good.

Essendon that was an insipid, pea-hearted performance. Embarassing. Joke of a club at the moment. Turn up in the stands every week and pay big money to watch a disgrace like this..
Melksham- Just **** off. Put yourself in front of a fast moving train tonight it will be of benefit for the club. Dead/Delist.
Monfries- You are a joke. Useless does nothing ever. Delist
Lonergan- How does this guy play...VFL let alone AFL. Delist
Hardingham- Maybe the AFL dumbest decision maker and also can't kick.
Stanton- Is the mayor of turnover city, lots of bombers players are residents of this city.
Hooker- Cant do anything other than spoil and mark. Useless.
Davey&Jetta- start running some laps and grow some balls to play in the midfield, you just jog around half hearted and don't offer enough as full time forwards.
Dempsey- You are not Cyril Rioli. Stop trying to be flashy all the time, just kick the ball!
Bellchambers- Fair enough you win the tapouts but stop hitting it straight to the opposition!
Fletcher- Please don't ever retire. We will win the wooden spoon when you are gone.
Watson- Sorry that you have a sore back from continually carrying our time. Sorry also that your shit teammates have probably cost you a brownlow.

/End rant.

So pissed off but as usual will turn up next week to see Richmond beat us.

Sigh...

I'm still trying to keep a level head. I think we've improved on last season. We're just dead on our feet. The necessary measures will be implemented in the off season and we'll be better again next year.

BTW, not sure what Hardingham brings to the team other than turnovers and critical errors.

At what point do we finally recognise the abject failure that is Adrian Dodoro? The guys has been the 1 constant at the club (other than Fletch) from 2000 & his record of poor drafting policy & picks has left us with the worst midfield depth in the league. Watson was a FS pick so you can't even credit him with that. Why has he not been held accountable?

To all those who are going to defend Hooker with stats, think again....

Heppell got creamed too, can not think of a player who won his position today, some started well, but faded badly, Dempsey needs a fair dinkum talking to about discipline, front runnners everywhere, Belly was woeful, and our underdone players (bar stants) played like it was a practice match, i'll go as far as saying TRB cost us this one, fresh, yes, capable of 'playing their role' no. hell no!!

Its sad because just to see our boys play one more game after the H&A season has been a highlight, cant happen now, we suck till next year.

Think Ant is probably right & we just have more than our fair share of dumb footballers, so add into that the injury debacle (anyone else notice how sheepish the weapon looked on the bench when Fletch was donning the red jacket?) & a stunned mullet coaches box & hey presto a perfect storm is born.

A good mate is a Blues supporter but geez I hate the mother ****er right now...

Dont worry about putting these guy into the gym next season, how about teaching them what it means to play for the jumper, that in hard times what it means to stand by your mate when you are in trenches. To show the spirit of Essendon.

Last week no fist pumping when we kicked team lifting goals, no collaborating in groups when something good was done. This week we lost the fight when Carlton took it up to us, thats not the essendon I grew up with, its use to be all for one and one for all attitude.

Weak, pathetic and selfish is what i'm seeing.

Keane *cough*

One thing I'm confused about at the moment is whether TRB and the recruiters are on the same page. Bomber gets to the club and says he just wants to get everyone in the gym to build our bodies, big bodies = better contested ball etc, and then who do we recruit... Kavanagh (needs time to build up), Merrett (needs time to build up), Dalgleish (needs time to build up), and then there's players like Ross who has shown some signs at some stage of being a footballer, but is yet to be re signed after only 2 pre seasons (and I don't think the first pre season really counts the way draft picks are weaned into the system)....

simply put, we are cooked.

Impossible to take anything out of these games, we literally are on our physical last reserves. More than a couple out there really shouldnt be playing in a perfect world.

Cant even hit most of our 15m passes.

We have to hope we can adress the issues, and tweak the pre-season so this doesnt happen again. I am also sure we will have a right royal crack at a mid or even two.

Left just after half time and came home for a nap. Best decision of the day!

No point hanging around to watch a team who can't even kick to the right team.

Last straw was Dempsey. He had ****ed up all day, so early in the third when he ran with it and got chased down I decided time to go. Guy at the gate asked if I wanted a passout to come back in. lol...

What would you had liked Dempsey to do? Kick it long on top of Alwyn Davey's head perhaps?

One thing I have noticed in the last few weeks especially is that our players like to give off the short handball to a player running beside them but then they just stop or wander off - no attempt at all to provide the shepherd. I'm not the most knowledgeable bloke on this forum but surely the point of giving off the short handball is to them shepherd and give the receiver some time and space? This is just basic shit and a key contributor to us losing games

These are the same players that were 9-1 at the start of the season which means it is one of two things.

Fitness/Work Rate - soft tissue injuries have meant that we rarely have had the same players week in week out. Players seem not to be able to run and spread as they were early season. I would hope that it isn't the players not wanting to work hard.

Mental/Confidence - Confidence is now shot. The same players that were hitting chests earlier now can't hit the side of a barn door. The same players that were clunking contested marks now struggle to take uncontested marks.

Maybe one leads to the other. Whatever the case is they need to work out why so it doesn't happen next season.

After watching all 4 quarters today, by far the worst thing was the muppet Carlton supporter behind me claiming that "He has always rated Brock McLean".

Not so sure about this. Last season we were defeating Top 8 sides and losing to the bottom 8 sides; it had been a recurring pattern for a couple of seasons. This season, who? An undermanned West Coast in Melbourne, and Carlton who then dropped out of the 8 for most of the season.

People used to comment on how unflexable Knights was as a coach and how he just stuck to things. From what i have seen this year it seems the current Coaches are the same but are being paid 3 times as much to do it ....

Have you got any insight into this ant? From the outside it stinks of arrogance. If not then its an even bigger concern. Why continue to play that style of football when it's obvious players are underdone or overcoming injury.

No doubt it worked well at the start of the year but since our downward spiral I haven't see any changes to how we're playing.

As much as I love Jobe, coming out during the week and saying we needed to be bolder in our play, didn't take into consideration the cattle we had playing.

Don't understate our performances against top 8 sides this year:

North - completely dominated them before switching off and nearly blowing it.

Carlton - absolutely dominated them, the 30 point scoreline was extremely kind to them, and this is when they had won 2 in a row and were being talked about as premiership favourites having just beaten Colonwood. That loss helped completely derail their season.

Collingwood - lost by a single point to a last minute goal. Within 40 seconds of beating them.

West Coast - undermanned but at this point undefeated. We were also undermanned.

Sydney - a 9 goal last quarter to nearly beat them, losing by less than a goal.

Adelaide - we know how that went. Again within a kick of winning the game.

Out of that we got 3 wins and lost 3. You could easily say that North was basically a loss but in the same breath the other 3 were almost wins. Very good effort given the state of our list imo.
