One more thing guys...

Let's have a bit of patience and perspective as well. (although I know most of you have anyway)

Despite the last few weeks, it's still clear that we ARE improving. We're playing a completely different style of footy than we were under Knights. A style of footy, I might add, that is far more likely to ever be successful than anything Knights had us doing.

We're also not even 2 years into the new "regime change", for lack of a better term. Consider the following:

- Clarkson didn't win a flag until his 4th season at Hawthorn.
- Paul Roos his 4th season at Sydney
- John Worsfold his 5th season at West Coast.
- Mark Williams his 6th season at Port (although finished 1st the previous 2 years)
- Bomber Thompson his 8th season at Geelong.
- Mick Malthouse his 11th season at Collingwood. (although granted, he took them to Grand Finals in his 3rd and 4th years)

Funnily enough, the two coaches probably regarded as the best from that lot are the two down the bottom of the list. (although I think Worsfold is seriously underrated by us Vics...)

We're still in year TWO.... and we've clearly made improvements.... and massive changes to the way we play.

The only thing I'm worried about is our list. I don't think it's good enough yet, and I don't think guys like Monfries, Melksham, and Colyer (etc) are going to improve and be players that will help take us forward. (maybe Melksham might... but I'm not even close to seeing it yet...)

While a coach has to get to a certain stage in his tenure to start contending, the third year is absolutely the critical one (which is why I think the way GC has gone about it is kinda silly).

Basically they just have to approach 2013 as though 2012 went to plan. And winning a final or being really competitive in a final basically has to be the target. Start winning strings of games, start getting some continuity, keep them on the park, and... yeah, the future's bright.

Is it possible that the Geel players coached themselves whilst BT enjoyed a smorgasbord in the box from 2007 on & his idea of a game plan is simply out of date.
If he's lacking in tactical nous & Hirdy's still working his own method out, we might need to look for a specialised tactician.
I would say that Bomber achieved the ultimate goal in enabling his players to have such an understanding of the game and game plan that they were able to make their own decisions.

I'm starting to share the same concerns about Bomber.

He got pulled into line at Geelong after the review and Neil Balme was brought in as Football Operations Manager in 2007 right about the time Geelong started to come good.

I hope for our sake Bomber is as good as his reputation because we have spent up pretty big to get him.
