Mean while our top picks in Brodie and Scrimshaw are still running around in the 2s in their 2nd season. If we are just managing them I hope it’s clear and they understand the plan as I’m sure other clubs would be telling them they would be top 22 at their club
Ten victorian clubs would be having thoughts about these kids. If there's not a plan that they are in on, it's a big worry.

Without knowing the internal conversation, it feels a little bit too 'small picture' to be looking at Rischa for fifteen possessions instead of Brodie. Different roles, yes, but there should be a place for that kid I reckon.

I agree I would rather Brodie be chasing kicks with a chance to develop him into a A or B grade footballer then watching a player who is likely going to be forced out the door at the end of the year

I agree with those sentiments, but there are some factors mitigating the situation. For a start, Scrimshaw is injured! I reckon he'd be putting pressure on Rischitelli for a game if that wasn't the case, so we will have to wait for the 2nd half of the season. I watched the Suns2 vs Aspley game and I'm sorry to say that Scrimshaw wasn't rising above the rest in terms of quality and demanding selection. His ability to get get hands on the ball wasn't a problem, but I didn't like many of his choices and didn't come away with the impression that he was passionate about winning senior selection. That same game saw nothing spectacular from the Suns2 defence, with Jaska and Leslie barely sniffing the ball and the small defenders having an absolute field day with running the ball out of their own 50. As soon as I saw the stat line for the UWS game I knew Scrimshaw must have been injured because there's no way a guy like him would only get 7 touches. He'll play Senior footy this year because we need a player of his profile to complete the back 6. Unfortunately for Jack, Dirk Koenen and Caleb Graham are likely to be biting at his heels very soon and fingers crossed both are on our list in case Scrimshaw does a Schache and demands to go home before the club gets any real value out of him.

In Brodie's case, he's being given different roles in the NEAFL like CHF, while Barlow and Lonergan have been playing the majority of games on the ball. Now with Lonergan given a chance in the Senior team and Barlow in no man's land, the NEAFL midfield is Brodie's to lead. I don't expect him to match Barlow's gaudy stats, but if he can match Lonergan's production and show his singular talents it will get harder for Dew to resist. I agree with bringing along a rookie at a time, with Bowes now comfortably playing AFL level footy and Ainsworth showing his potential. Brodie will be next - Eade didn't manage him well, as evidenced by the video where Rocket informed Will he was going to debut and the young fella didn't know how to react, except afterward when the assistant coach reassured him - and you can already see that his body has changed over the off season.

Another player due for Senior consideration is Scheer. He's really bulked up over the off-season and has been super impressive so far in the NEAFL.

Scrimshaw and Brodie have signed to 2020, as well as Bowes, Ainsworth and Joyce.
That doesn't mean that none of them won't do a Schache and chuck a mid-season "Wwwaaahhh, I want my Mummy!!! A-a-a-a-annnddd B-b-b-b-Bulldogs!!!" tantrum.

I'm getting a bit nervous too.
Nearly every kid in the top 30 of the 2016 draft is playing, and playing well. Apart from a few with injuries.

I think it’s hard to compare as we don’t have the luxury of bloody all our kids early with the support of a solid foundation of senior players around them to ease them into it. Like most other teams do. With our current situation every kid who gets a game has he weight of the world on them to perform and be a saviour of our struggling club so I’m glad we are holding off on playing Brodie and scrimshaw until they are deff ready for the rigours of playing each week and performing

Think you're being a bit harsh there SoA. it's a lot easier to find a spot in your 22 for a Top 30 pick if you only had the one Pick.
I think you'll find that GWS Suns Lions all had 4 picks. We're playing 2, BL playing 3 and GWS playing 2 at the moment. Carlton had 2 and 2 are playing while Essendon is only playing 1 from 2 picks. Freo isn't playing their 1 pick. The others are all a mixture.
I'm hoping our Match Committee are waiting til the other 2 players (Brodie and Scrim) are AFL ready before they come into the 22, rather that giving them a game cause they're a top 30 pick.

Today Brodie didn't play NEAFL and he wasn't selected in the senior squad. People are right to be concerned, but I agree that it is not time to make judgement even though SoA's observation about injuries has more to do with opponents not playing prized recruits because of injury rather than over protectiveness.

Above anything Dew was selected on the basis of his ability to communicate and win players' trust
As far as the playing futures and programme for our younger players I have confidence that it is being communicated effectively and compassionately
I'm sure Brodie would be frustrated he's not a walk-up first team selection but I have confidence he knows exactly why
Over the years we've loved thurls64 inner sanctum goss, but it kind of makes me feel better that he's being flat batted these days
It seems things are tighter and more professional with all due respect to him

AFL 360 being disgracefully misused by Weasel Whateley and Robbo and that epic self entitled underachieving bore Chris Scott to protect Joel Selwood.
I’m so appalled.
The AFL has massive problems with its Cheerleader media culture that does not exist in any other sport anywhere in the world.
